Won't be back, and I wouldn't bank on him to play until mid-season unless we have a serious injury problem.

Now that Anthony is injured, if we have one injury to a key defender, Nathan Brown is probably next in line to get a senior game.

Our three main keyt defenders are Presti, Maxwell and Clement

O'Brien and Wakelin would both get a game ahead of Brown at this stage, and possibly so too Cox.
It depends on who gets hurt - If Presti or Wakelin go down, O'Brien and Cox aren't really big enough to play on the guys that they would ordinarily take.

If it was Clement or Maxwell that was hurt, then you're probably right, but Brown is much bigger than O'Brien and Cox.

I dunno about Wakes, I reckon this will/should be his last year. The way I see it, he's insurance against presti and clemo getting injured.

Young JA would have probably got a few games this year when match ups suited, just to give him a taste and see how he went. With him out for a while (and a neck injury isn't something you want to rush) I wouldn't be surprised to see Brown get a couple of games if his form warrents it.

I'd much rather slip these young guys into the team while there are still experienced players in the key posts rather than have them play at willie then throw them to the wolves.

Hawthorn in the early 80s was great at succession planning. Dunstall's first season he played forward poket with Matthews at FF. Chris Langford started as a winger cos Kelvin Moore still held down full back.

Hopefully MM will look at what attributes our young kids has and thinks outside the box about where he can blood them and where they can add value and doesn't just leave them to rot at Willie for 2 years then flick them.
