what is everyone talking up our chances of getting him? he hasn't played one senior game and looks to be a dud. He struggles to get possessions and hitouts in the SANFL. Just cause he was taken early in the draft doesn't mean he is a gun. As shown previous drafts early draft picks aren't always going to be guns (eg. Tim Walsh pick 4 2002)

Just like Hamish Macintosh and Jason Laycock have show this season ruckmen often struggle a lot in their early careers. But both in their 5th year on AFL list and one is in AA contention and the other is starting to really perform.

well we're just going to have to arent we

simmonds still has several years left, patto is coming along and Graham - we'll see what hes got to offer... Meesen's been in the system almost 3 years now, hes not far off from maturing enough to play consistently.

Where do I start?

Last year as a 19/20 year-old he led Norwood's ruck division in the SANFL. As a matter of fact the coaching staff had so much faith in him he was the lone recognised ruckman for about half the season. He averaged 13 possessions, 5 marks and 13 hit-outs per game, hardly bad stats, especially for a youngster developing his game.

He was expected to make his mark this year however unfortunately he suffered a very serious knee injury during the pre-season which kept him out for 3 months. He’s been back for 6 weeks now and has played the last two games in the league team. Last week he was quite good in atrocious conditions and on Sunday he had 12 possessions, 7 marks, 2 goals, 4 tackles and 20 hit-outs and was named 2nd best. Not bad for a dud who can’t win hit-outs or get any possessions eh?

Moves like a midfielder and has all the tools to be an exceptional AFL player. :thumbsu:

no duds please, the sanfl a much lower than the vfl!

I shared a house with a guy in London who played AFL, VFA and SANFL in the 90's. He was from Victoria.

He reckoned SANFL was the second best comp in Australia. I believe him.
