The Woosha appreciation thread. Arguably the greatest eagle ever, winning premierships as captain and coach. I think he deserves our accolades.

In woosha we trust.

Well done D4E. :thumbsu:

Whoosha has been through a fair bit of shit this season and deserves much better than that.

I do hope the remaining players realise and pay Whoosha back with 200% effort in games and training.

All the best in 2008 John! :thumbsu:

I'm assuming there's a word or two missing from that statement BM. (Edit : Seems there was.)

On that assumption, I concur with your thoughts and those of D4E.

Certain players have shown a real lack of respect to Woosha, hopefully that is at an end because he deserves better.

Woosha does deserve better, he loves this club and he has given his all over the years.

John is and always will be the heart and soul of the club.

I just want to write a few words in regards to Woosha because in my eyes, he is the 'unsung hero of 2007'. If I was to listed my highlights for this season, there would be certain games and other on-field stuff. But I would also put down Woosha appearance on the Footy Show after Cuzz's suspension. The character he showed during that appearance and through out the year, blow me away.

If there was anyone at the club, who had the right to look and around go 'F*** THIS, I'm out of here'. It was him. But Woosha didn't. He never shy away from the media or hid behind someone else.

What I learnt this year is that our coach is a very decent man with a strong character, who got let down a lot this year. I read in the paper this week, Woosha still offering his personal support to Cousins, which saids alot about Woosha.

I'm still disspointed that Cousins and Judd won't be playing for us anymore. But I will utterly distraught the day when Woosha leaves us.

Obviuosly the Woosha fan club on here.

I like Woosha, always have but he certainly is no hero as to the goings on in recent times at the club.

Woosha has been the one big dissapointment for me in the last 6 months, he has not stood at the front and answered the questions, I have never heard such little from a coach with so much going on with his players.

Having said that I am glad he is coaching us and hope in time he will become a great coach.

As a player he was nothing more than a better than average footballer, as a captain he was second to none.

As a coach he has had an outstanding side for 3 years and wona premiership which is a great effort on its own, but in my view he has seriously underachieved, he has no concept of a forward structure, is a defensive coach only and has a long way to go to be a great coach.

I hope he gets there but for now he aint no hero of mine and he has some serious blame to bare for some of the issues at the club, if the head coach can't take some blame then no one can.
At this point he is hiding and that to me is not a strong man.
Stand up and say that you played guys that were not obeying club rules instead of hanging them out to dry.

great whiteshark, you have brought up some very interesting points, that got me thinking. I disagree with you on the Woosha saying little about the player behaviour publicly, there was Cuzz's suspension press conference, footy show appearance, his on the couch appearance (before Cuzz's return), his weekly 7 spots (that off the top of my head).

I still stand by the majority of what I wrote. We will have to agree to disagree. But I do respect the fact that you wrote and have a contrasting view.

I'm really not a fan of having a bare all media conference. That's what the media want, sells papers and shows. Why don't we just start having a monday media conference with all 16 coaches so they can share all with everyone. Not going to happen and nor should it.

He also won't be the last coach to play a player that didn't adhere to team rules - Didak springs to mind and all EPL managers do the same.
