G'day Dons

Isn't James Davies the guy Essendon was investigated over due to allegations of draft tampering/manipulation?

If I've got the right guy, what happened between 2000 (I think) and now?

You have to feel for kids who are drafted with lots of fuss, undue expectations, and suddenly the future of a club balancing on their shoulders.

IMO, AFL players earn every cent they get

If james could have found the ball a lot more than he did then he had the weapons to be a serious gun.Not many guys around that are 190cms...that have the pace and great disposal he has. See ya jimmy

Banno was just not good enough...great at vfl level but his decision making and skills let him down at senior level.

Good to see Courtney get a go...it will be very interesting to see him after a full pre-season.

Not a great deal - that's the problem unfortunately.

Never really looked like it, although he did kick a tasty goal once at senior level.

That's about all I remember of him.

that was against the eagles in round 10 this year. as you say, he never ever looked like he was going to make it. bannister the same imo.

Davies is a headless chicken. He was quick and tall - bu the problem was - he didn;t know how to find the football - if he ever did find it, he tried to run through 10 tackles and of course with his frame, he was taken down instantly.

Bannister was quick - but too soft. I really wanted to give this guy a chance - but it became clear - at senior level he just wasn;t hard enough at the footy.

RFK is the tough one IMO, always had a lot of time for him but he could never quite cut it. My biggest beef with him was the 2002 semi-final - only 1 game but I felt really let down by him then and since have felt he was always on the way out unfortunately.

Johns - I have seen him play and can see why people get excited - but lets remember - he played 7 games and only 2 were more than half a game. he has what it takes - but he wouldn;t be the first player to have injuries rob him of a great career.

Wilson is gone too.
Davies thank god he got dumped. 7 career touches in 3 games you are a total dud.
Johns and Haynes will be good.

The Atkins diet has been great for Rioli this season, he'll never be 'slim' in the conventional sense of the word, but has gotten his body back to it's ideal 'Solid' peak. Nowhere near as bad as the Pork Barrel that played on Anzac day last year.

I'm surprised they'd dump a good player because of potential weight issues. Look at someone like Sam Mitchell or Riccuoto...would be classed as 'chunky' but still play damn good football

I understand he was sent home to Adelaide to get over his hammy that stuck with him all damned year. Surely they'll see how he has gone with his training programme whilst "on leave" with a view to re-rookie'ing him for 2004. When fit he's got a lot going for him. His old man was a "keg on legs" but sure could play.
Hopefully he'll get a second crack at it.

Wilson has really struggled with hamstring problems, so maybe that is the reason behind his delisting?

But with Hall, Howard, and McGrath all being moved on, surely we can afford to keep Wilson? The upshot is far bigger than the down, I think.
