Just so insipid.
With Anthony and Faulks showing something down back, Pav going back forward, Houghton coming on hopefully and Harves stating we will be taking a key forward, if Johnson is not part of the trade to get O'Meara (looking less likely every game), I'd delist him.

Seriously. Take a tall as a rookie or late in the draft

The pointing is what really gets me.

The guy consistantly plays for himself, consistantly makes poor skill errors or misses marks he should have taken.

yet he feels he is "directly traffic". Its a joke, he just needs to be delisted.

Its a good measure of a player, that if we delisted him, someone else would pick him up. If we delisted Johnson not even GWS would pick him up.

Playing devil's advocate ...

I doubt we'll find a better player in the draft - kind of sick of these mature rookies in a way, starting to resemble a WAFL team.

I'd retain him for a year and take him out of consideration of best 22. That doesn't mean like Schammer, who wasted a spot on the list. Just someone who can come in for backup if a few talls go down. Kind of like how Dodd was played last season.

I can't see a player who has played every game this season being delisted. My real fear is that he gets a 2 year contract and plays every game next season.

He's just so bad. He's not WAFL because he's so soft.
Does not impact the contest at all. And to cap it off his skills aren't good.

And it grates on me.
Rather have a bloke like Busher than Johnson
In a way I feel the same, but there are a few players ahead of him on the shitness scale (Schammer, Crowley), possible retirements (Grover and Hayden), that I would prefer to keep him on and cut him at the end of next year - for the super draft.

Can I bump my thread yet?

His choices in his personal life left him being an extremely over rated player, and a charity case for us to pamper - which we obliged.

He needs to GTFO ASAP. All he does is ****ing point.

I actually laughed when he shanked that kick at the end of the first quarter. What a joke and what a waste of time.

A few people have been recommending this fella. I'd love to see us pick him up. He's not a tall KPF, about the same size as Darling I think, but would add a lot to our forward line. Imagine having a forward that could actually hold onto a contested mark... unlike Mayne, McPhee, MJ.

Really hope we grab him.

And yep, I genuinely hope that we f*ck MJ off at the end of the season. Won't happen though. Guy takes up a spot on the field every week and adds almost nothing. Dump MJ and Plug in Buco and we've instantly got a replacement that you know will give his all every week.

We've been having this discussion all season. Thread starts about what a pea hearted squib he is, general agreement from all concerned, fill the team selection thread with Johnson as an out. Then Thursday night comes around, he gets selected again, puts in another shitful performance on the weekend and we go around again for another potting.

If i was to ask Harvey 1 question right now, it would be why Johnson keeps getting a game every week when it's clear his commitment isn't there and his performances nowhere near warrant selection. It's hard to imagine coaches like Malthouse putting up with his shit week after week.

It's not like we're short on key defenders.

on busher, how is his kicking? good set shot for goal?

you know with MJ i actually get the feeling that he doesnt even like playing footy. no passion, no heart... nothing. i just hope we can trick another team into taking him..... i get the feeling once MJ's AFL "career" is over he would be one of those guys who just quits and never plays again. you cant afford to have lazy uncommitted players on your list let alone in the starting 22. the guy is a walking punchline

I'd keep Johnson listed (though traded to GWS would be my preferred option), if he stays then (i) he has to be dropped if his form merits it (ii) find a role for him and stick to it

His finger pointing is top class, absolute A grader in that respect.

I wonder where all the people who swore by both MJ and Duffield for the past few years have gone.

It's hard work being a season or two ahead of the trend.

i too have been ahead of the curve when it came to realising johnson's ineptitude... duffield though i still think has a role

OK fellas, time to stop downplaying Johnno's worth. I'm pretty sure the other clubs are onto tactics like that and we may just have to accept that he could be leaving us.

I will try and find a way to deal with it, but at least the young talented player and first round draft pick we get in the trade will help ease the pain.

Someone rang 720 ABC Saturday morning and asked what their opinions were about MJ.

Judge said he would have been dropped earlier in the season if we didn't have the injury problems we had. He also said 194 cm players that can play all over the ground are hard ti find and if he was given a position he could settle into he might start playing some good footy.

If we lose him or trade him I wont lose any sleep just as if we give him another year I'd be hoping he gets some respect back from some of our supporters.

It's sad when he cops a bucketing. He isn't the one who selects himself.

Johnson seduces with his mobility, x factor and ability to play multiple roles. But the problem I have is that he is jack of all trades but master of none. Also, he goes missing the heat is in the contest.

Maybe, is that I expected more than just being a role player and therefore, underestimate his true value to the team.

It's a hard one.
