Rivers has had 1 good year, just shut your mouths and hope he can go a few more years.
But I guess Melbourne supporters are used to settling for mediocracy. A club that is so used to finishing down the bototm of the ladder, that they are satisfied by simply making the finals.
and don't start talking about Carlton's recent ladder finishes. We all know that they've been down the bottom. But at least we know that Carlton are proven Premiership winners in the modern era and will be back up the top where the club belongs.
Melbourne on the other hand, will continue to flounder for another 100 years.

Oh, was it not the same bunch of hacks, who did not make the finals and had numerous players out injured later in the season that defeated Melbourne?
As for Rivers and Thornton, both are class players and will be All Australian together down the track. Thornton for Jolly is a joke of a trade.

Apart from the fact that it is actually impossible for Thornton to be traded for Jolly due to the recent resigning there is also no chance that Carlton would consider it. Keep in mind Thornton is actually younger than Jolly and has performed much better so far.
As has been suggested Livingston may be another option but that depends how desperate Melbourne are for a key defender and Carlton would still have to throw a late pick in as a sweetener.

well ************** i think we was in a grand final in 2000 chumpy!!! n in the qualifing final played uses n down by 27 points n kicked 6 goals in the last quarter bruce and green killed uses then u had to play essendon n lost.. stiff

Jolly for Thornton? haha! lets keep it real folks. just signed a new deal, top 5 b & f, groomed for the future.... for a second string ruckman? i dont think so. would not mind getting Jolly to Carlton, but it wont involve a deal with Bret Thornton thats for sure. As for the 104 point loss and all the gloating, lets not forget the awesome finish of Melbourne this year. gee, if you played september in june melb would be premiers.
