Trott's technique lends himself to being crap against quick, bouncy (not necessarily short) bowling. Continuously walking at bowlers firing them in at 140+ just isn't going to yield sustainable runs imo, and to be perfectly honest if you watched him he's not a guy you'd say averages 48 or whatever he does currently.

Johnson will continue to be his nemesis as long as the pitch has some life in it or if the ball is still new and hard, right arm over not so much because the angle will always favour his clip off the hip, but left arm over at pace, the ball angles in from outside leg, which he clearly doesn't like.

Johnson bowls one good game every five games. Calm down everyone.
So let's rejoice over the one in five cos it was against the Poms and he was central to us giving them a right old seeing to.

I think the problem is less short bowling per se, and more genuine pace. Siddle and Starc gave him no end of problems in England despite not extracting a lot of bounce. It seems like he just gets really uncomfortable when the ball is up around 90mph.

This is exactly right

He's very strong against swing, medium pace & spin. Does not like it up at him with pace

Never has.

I'm very confused about Trott, I rated him as one of the best 3s in the world a few years ago, bloke seems so well balanced at the crease. Even in the first test in England I thought he was going to make shitloads, he kept playing some terrible shots after a few decent starts, now he looks so out of nick I almost feel sorry for him.

Trott and Prior should be kicked in the arse for the shots they played and got out on.

Everybody knew the trap that was set for Trott yesterday, including Trott himself. Yet he still fell for it hook line and sinker.

Johnson has Trott's number at the moment. No doubt about that. Wait til he gets hold of Trott in Perth.

To be honest it had shades of Ian Botham bowling to Andrew Hilditch in 1985.

Good thing about top level sport, weaknesses get exposed. It's a good challenge for Trott to work through it. Either start hitting the ball along the ground (there's a revolutionary idea), or shelve playing that shot completely for the time being.

It's a very common theme these days - test batsmen are not putting a price on their wickets the way they should. It's great to want to move the scoreboard along, but the bowler should have to get you out. You don't do their job for them.

Some quality on twitter earlier today.
Pictured above was trot showing a massive hot spot blowout after facing one of Mitch Johnsons faster balls
There is no ******* way that that shot is real. Looks like someone's gone the Microsoft paint and erased that.

Are you serious?? Of course it isn't real.
