How did Josh play today and how did his knee hold up??
Will we be back this week to take on the Dawks this week?

He played about 60 % of the game today, with small periods of 10 -12 minutes in the ruck.

First time he's rucked at the centre bounce for the VFL team, which leads to the assumption he will be back next week.

His knee seemed to hold up well, and the soft conditions probably were ideal in his recovery attempt.

They rested him fairly for the majority of the last quarter, with a 5 day break before Friday night, was another indicator of likely inclusion.

We need him desperately, a fit and firing Josh is in the best 5 ruckman in the game, and makes us a better side instantly.

Hope he plays against the hawks.

Are your eyes painted on. Easily best 5.

Yes mate, you obviously don't go week in week out and see what I see then. Why do you think we used our 1st pick on Wood last year?

Cox, Charman, Ottens, Sandilands, McIntosh, Simmonds, Hille, Jolly, and Lade have all got Fraser covered.

Charman - have you blokes watched ANY football this year?

If all of Brisbane's other ruckmen weren't injured he'd be playing 2's for sure, he's been pathetic this year.

Macintosh has had one above average season and was pathetic before getting injured this year.

In Round 2 against Brisbane, Fraser smashed Charman, against North he dominated the ruck and also popped 4 goals through for good measure.

Cox, Sandilands and Ottens I'll give you, and based on 6 weeks of recent form Hille has him covered - but Hille has had 6 weeks of good form after 9.5 years of rubbish and Fraser has towelled him in most clashes - guess thats why he was in the Vic side and not Hille?

Lade is now playing 2's. You guys need to watch more football.

Everyone knows that he was in the Vic side by DEFAULT. I wonder why Collingwood had the second most players nominated (behind Geelong) for each of the squads when we never have any All Australians?

Lade is playing 2's, but last I heard isn't Fraser aswell?

Good news for Fraser!

Josh Fraser right for return

COLLINGWOOD VFL coach Gavin Brown says star ruckman Josh Fraser is ready to play against Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night after a solid performance in the VFL yesterday.

Brown, who is also on the Pies' senior selection committee, said Fraser, who hurt a posterior cruciate ligament in the Hall of Fame match in May, was "ready to go" after two games in the VFL.

The 26-year-old played in the ruck and forward to finish with 12 kicks, seven handballs and four marks in Collingwood's 90-point win against the Bendigo Bombers at Princes Park.

Collingwood senior coach Mick Malthouse attended the game and would have been happy with what he saw.

"I think he's ready to go. I think he showed that today. Now it's up to the selection committee to see what they want to do," Brown said.

"He's progressed a bit further. Last week no ruckwork and this week a little bit of ruckwork. He probably did a little bit more than what we thought he would, but he felt OK.

"That's what they (the senior side) want him to do. Do some centre-bounce work and show that he's right to go."

Fraser has not played in the AFL since the Round 12 loss to Carlton at the MCG.

I think Charman would the number one ruckman if at our club.

At least he puts his body in, doesn't drop his head Richie Cole style when going for an over head mark, actually provides a physical presence on the ground and can take a contested pack mark.

Maggie supporters on these boards have been crying out for a decent ruckman, one that can have a physical influence on a game and can get some bodies out of the way for the likes of Pendles, Thomas, Swan and Didak to get some time to dispose of it properly to our forwards - Charman would be my pick any day of the week as our starting ruckman, Fraser would be his back up.

Cox yes best ruck in the league
Charman HAHAHAHAHA! no is like a taller bryan really
Ottens agreed, maybe a fit fraser is equal just
Sandilans, is just huge fraser has him covered
McIntosh equal
SImmonds: Frasr has bested him when they have plaed against each other
Hille maybe this season but i remeber a couple of games where fraser made hille second rate
Jolly differnt players
Lade father time disagrees

So that would mean he is about top 5 or 6 when fit

Hmmm have you heard that fraser has been injured?? Just throwing it out there

Really?

I thought they picke him because he is the best Victorian ruckman going around - just a theory...

If they picked it now, Hille would be there - but like I said he's strung 6 good games together after 9 years of junk. Fraser has smashed him every time they have played against each other.

Lade is playing 2's because he is old and out of form. Fraser is playing 2's because he has a torn posterior! The ame injury that ended Adam Goodes career as a ruckman permanently.

Ill stick to my comment, he is top 5 when fit and firing.

This was proven when he was the first ruckman selected for VIC for the HOF game early this year, and till he got injured in that game he was clearly the best ruckman on the ground.

Put simply, we have one leauge class ruckman at the club, and he will be back this week.

Great to see Browny back him too, I love Browny's talks at 1/4 time and 3/4 time on sunday, never heard a coach use the word fantastic as much as browny.

One thing, Hawthorn dont have one league standard ruckman, let alone two, so its the perfect game for Josh to come back and get ready for Steven King etc from then on.

Fraser = Worst number 1 draft pick in the history of the game..
He is an absolute Spud, need to trade him asap, while he may be worth something..
My opinion is that we offer him and a draft pick to the eagles for Kerr..

Not sure you're on the money there champ.

You might wanna have a closer look at Robert Campbell on Friday. Granted he's the standout ruckman at Hawthorn, but he's certainly AFL standard.

Taylor is probably fortunate to be getting so many games at Hawthorn. Should have been relegated by now but two knee injuries have sidelined Max Bailey and Taylor is left standing. Goes OK, but nowhere near Campbell's class.
