I'd give up pick 1 for Kelly no qualms at all
If you had pick #1 to trade then you also have more leverage as well. Pick #1 wouldn't be enough for mine, but it would probably result in the trade happening after a bit of posturing from both clubs.

Kelly is a gun and worth a number one draft pick, and then some. Many number one draft picks do not and will not end up the player Kelly is and is developing into.

Pick 1 would easily be enough. Easily.

Won't happen though as North won't have the no1 pick.

This is not certain and this is where you distort your values. The bloke could also smash a knee or an ankle and do a Morabito.

he could sign a 9 year 9 mill contract and get 9m.
he could sign a 5 year 800k contract, get 4m and be worth way less at the end of that 5year weather it be injuries, form whatever.

Option 1 9 times out of 10.

Do you have a job? Ever worked somewhere where your job environment is total crap? Imagine being contracted to a place you could possibly hate going to everyday for 9 years. This phenomenom is otherwise known as the Treloar.

No it's not. It's called Melbourne and it shits on Western Sydney.

Edit- 1 mill per year is the sweetener

What is certain is how good Josh has been playing up until this point. Players at Josh's age who have had a consistent rise in their development and output every year are highly sought after.

If you're trying to tell me that there's at all a possibility that Josh's value is capped because he could potentially blow a knee out then every single player's value would also be capped.

Really, such a statement is nothing more than a non sequitur. Your club offering Josh a potential nine-year deal is certainly not factoring in a potential knee, or any other injury, into the equation.

I can only assume all North Melbourne players live between CityLink and Flemington Rd?

Look mate, we're just a couple of jokers sitting at keyboards speculating. I'm not interested in some drawn out pointless keyboard war. Bookmark my comments and return to them when the deal is done and lets see who was off the mark.:thumbsu:

The fact a bad injury could ruin Josh's career, whilst wouldn't play much of a role in the trade, it would be something that Josh and his management would consider.

Most live in Ascot Vale, Kensington, North Melbourne, Flemington, Pretty much anywhere within 5 k of the city, Richmond, Fitzroy Northcote, Parkville etc. others choose to live further out I spose.

Exactly. Most of the Giants players live in places like Balmain or Bondi. Footballers live in nice places, it doesn't matter whether it's in Melbourne or Sydney.

It does if they're from Melbourne. Also the time it takes to get to training from Bondi would be a big difference then it would take a player to get from Parkville to Arden St. Probably save 40mins a day

I'm sure these guys manage to find an extra 40 mins a day in order to live in a place like Bondi.

So much eye candy!

The Saints best players are still there oldest. They're still rebuilding. They will struggle when Riewoldt & Montagna retire. Theres some good young talent in there, but let's not be nieve, every list has talented youngsters.

If it was about strength of lists he'd stay at GWS

Well I was reffering to the situation that he's leaving for the pay rise and he could possibly take slightly less money at X club because he prefers them. But another comment I said earlier, the length of contract would be the sticking point. Guaranteed money. Most clubs aren't going to give him 9 year type security

The kids dad played for North, he grew up wearing North jumpers to training and had posters of Boomer on his wall. North is now offering him a massive chance of life financial security. What on earth would make him prefer another club? Shit, he's even mates with Ahern. It's either he stays at GWS or goes to North.

Half of that shit is irrelevant right now though. Plenty of examples of players barracking for X club not going to X club when they are offered. Also plenty of examples of X player leaving X club even if they supported them as a kid

big difference between barracking for a club and your dad playing for the club.

I just reckon that in particular really wouldn't impact his decision to be honest, if Saints miss out of Dusty, Whitfield, Fyfe then they could go hard at Kelly. Currently Saints have a 'war chest' to play with, and with CBA increasing it's only going to be even more in terms of $$, and I'm sure norths offer is accounting for the increase.

Why would you possibly think we have less available salary cap than St Kilda?

Our war chest is Dolly Parton comparitively.
