So you honestly think Kelly is the third best player in the competition???

People getting way over-excited about Kelly and over-hyping him because of all the talk and scrutiny around him since he might leave...plenty of other players who would warrant the same attention if not more if they were also leaving.

Yes he's a gun but people saying he's top 3 player in the comp is ludicrous.

IMO he's not even the best midfielder at GWS...i'd say Shiel is a more damaging player.

Disagree

On talent alone i would have Kelly ahead.
Where Shiel passes him though is his leadership qualities.

Yet north don't have a structure, just splash the cash to entice other clubs guns? ;)
Offering in excess of $1.5mill each for Kelly and Martin, Goldstein in excess of $900kp.a.
Funny salary structure north have going. Pay a quarter of the salary cap on 3 players, I'm sure that will go down well with the other 35+ players. :D
The old saying "you pay peanuts...." or the alternative is players will start to look elsewhere.
I wonder how your salary structure will go when Ben Browns contract is up for renewal next year and he's offered big money from other clubs. No doubt he'll be getting a hefty pay rise, similar to Goldstein a year or 2 ago when north had to ward off interest from other clubs.

Errrrr did u read the rest of my passage. I said Kmart offer is once off only as they r in for a specific task and it is to accelerate our reentry into finals then normal progression there onwards. As to brown he's 700k tops as no forward is worth million plus unless u r the Ablett Carey locket or franklin in the modern day. We r not going to get hamstrung by a forward at that salary. Second if he's going to leave we do trade, first rounder minimum. Third brown at other club may not get the same experience as every team has their own way of ball movement and key forward rule, he may not adjust as well or delivery adjusting to him. Will take two years to get use to.

Are you picking them for a single game or to have on your list going forward?

Buddy is 30. Rance will be 28 this year. Kelly is 22. To have on your list going forward I'd take Kelly. To have them for a single game I'd take Buddy.

Responding to someone who said he is the 3rd best player in the competition right now. I don't think he is

Well if Dogs did it obviously North will too...

Difference is, in 2015 digs had a strong young list full of top end draft picks, good father sons and some terrific later drafting. Norths list just looks like a dirty old dog turd at the moment. **** all quality kids coming through.
Right so everyone had them bottom 4 and lots of decade of doom comments yet they were going to be strong in 2015. Thanks harry hind sight.

Is the Tiger record under threat?

Yeah I dunno what's happening anymore. I got told that it was a done deal to stay but who knows now. I still think he's staying though. A GWS supporter posted that the club has already been told that he is leaving?!
I still think 2 years at GWS is the most likely outcome. But there are so many leaks and rumours I think only Josh, his parents and his manger know what he will do. Anything outside of them I wouldn't believe.

All I do know for a fact is that IF he does leave GWS it's not going to be a massive long term deal like it's been reported. Would be 4-5 as he doesn't want the pressure or hype of a long term deal. But still think he's staying. Wouldn't read too much into the talk about because he hasn't signed it's making it harder for others to sign etc Smith and Hopper. They are all in the same boat as Kelly, They know they can get better $ in Vic so they would be weighing up their options as well.

When did I say I knew they would be strong in 2015? I was very surprised to see them shoot us that fast, but that doesn't change the fact they had a heap of talent on that list mostly from top end draft picks and father sons. You don't have that, which means I'd be a hell of a lot more surprised if your guys did the same thing.

And there lies the joy of football in that we are often surprised with results. Last year it was winning a flag from 7th and this year 0-6 and making finals.

The reigning premiers are 11th and Tigers 4th!! Surprise......

That's all well and good, but taking off your North Melbourne glasses for a second, just imagine it was another club you don't barrack for who were a relatively "small" club, who had won just 8 of their last 35 games and looked like finishing last this year.

How likely do you think it would be that that club would signing one of the very biggest "fish" in the AFL in that upcoming offseason?

Especially when there are other clubs in the same city who are higher on the ladder, further advanced in their rebuilds and likewise offering vast sums of money also in the race?

Logic would suggest that that club would likely be the least likely to get their signature and that it would take something pretty significant for them to be the one to do so.

Would you not agree?

Tom Boyd would 100% disagree.

Would you rather play at the Saints or Giants if you had football talent?

In five years time GWS will have more Flags than the Saints and the Saints will still be rebuilding for 2025.

Or maybe Kelly will take them to the promised land of 1966.

Would definitely take Kelly over any other player in the comp given his age, current output and his scope to improve. He's just turned 22 and is averaging almost 30 touches, a goal, 6 tackles, 5 clearances a game, consistently breaks lines and has a better disposal than Danger or Dusty. Scary to think what he could be at 25.

Amazing - I still think the feeding frenzy will go to a new level if Lynch is unsigned this time next year.
