Is it just me or did everyone realise that Kennedy only played 30 minutes yesterday. WHATS THE POINT IN HAVING HIM IN THE TEAM?

Personally id much rather see him in the 2's where he'll get to play at least 75-80% of the match.

Murphy is a good example of the hope and talent a young kid could bring to the game

Thoughts?

If he is not going to play close to a full game, keep him in the Bullants.

Nothing worse than seeing a talented youngster sitting on the pine.

he should play as many minutes as Fev and Whitnall play. A big man like Josh might only have 20 spectacular minutes per game, but he needs to be on the ground all the time to have a chance to find those 20 minutes. He showed us that he will chase hard and apply pressure, so when he isn't spectacular he is still useful.

Tend to agree. We're not going to develop him much by having him sit on the bench. Although, it would have been good for him to travel with the team and get that sort of experience.

The use of Josh Kennedy was a disgrace yesterday why play the kid without game time. I'd rather see him play at the bullants.

Exactly. Will be interesting to see what they do with him this week versus Port.

That's Pagan for ya. Week in week out he says in his press conference, "we just have to keep persisting with the kids." And then he leaves them on the bench all day! WHAT THE....?

I do not understand his tactics at all... the man has lost the plot!

There was a bit of a wind at the game yesterday and JK seemed to only play when we were kicking with the wind. We seemed to load up tall in the 2nd and 4th and play open forward against the wind in the 1st and 3rd.
It will be interesting to see how we use him next week against Port at the TD.

Yeah i totally agree, give the guy a chance to get into the game, why let him sit on the bench week after week, watching the same resullt? give him a chance to have an impact on the game.
How can he prove himself, or even improve when he doesnt ahve time on the ground. Enough of giving him a feel for it, give him a bloody full game and let him make his mark.
he has strong character and a lot of self belief, all he needs is for Pagan to have the same confidence in him!

Hey, idea. Is there any merit in simply playing all the kids in for the rest of the season and rotating the seniors instead?

Seriously people, not being stupid. I mean we really don't want to win too many more games. We need those draft picks! So given that we really can't sink any lower, is there any merit in that?

I mean at least all the kids would be gaining experience. Just make sure there are enough mentors to teach them things. Fev can take care of the forwards, Big Red the backs, Stevo in the midfield.

I really don't care if we win another game this year. All I want to see in the young players developing. Pagan is under pressure from supporters and media to win games or not get pumped. If he didn't have that pressure maybe he would take "risks" and play the young guys for longer periods.

I am convinced that Pagan goes into games with his 18 players in his mind as the team he wants to play and only sees the players on the bench as extras to be used only when others need a rest, rather than having 22 players in your side and trying to spread the game time between the 22 he gives the starting 18 all the game time and the bench players the scraps. So is it any wonder we look undermanned every week when other sides are playing with a full compliment of 22 contributers and Carlton under Pagan are only really using 18, he does this every week and it drives me nuts, how can the players be expected to win against 22 players when they are effectively restricted by Pagan to 18, especially with the new kicking in rule and the extra fatigue that adds is it any wonder our disposal turns to crap half way through each quarter.

Use the flucking bench Dennis you silly old fool.

I like your idea, why not, lets see what these kids are made of, maybe they will try harder than sporn and co.

jessica
pagan used the bench the most out of all the coaches this week maybe he is slowly bringing kennedy into the pace of the game after all he did have a serious injury suggest you watch the bench closly as he uses the bench but if you dont have the cattle you wont win game was lost on thursday with the team we named

Exactly. Blackwell, Russell, Kennedy, Bower all should be playing. If we play kids and lose so be it, plenty of upside in gaining experience and hope for the future.

Last week was a perfect example of how crap our selection process is, we finally drop DeLuca but bring in Prenda. STOP rotating the duds and just play kids.

Agreed.
The 'lets turn recycled players/low draft guesses into stars'
experiment has gone on for too long.

The fact that they have 'form' in the VFL is irrelevant,
as the opportunities given them has shown no benefit,
to the team,
it hinders development of the recent high draft picks.

What is the point of persisiting with the Sporn, Prendergast and Teague type players, who in all likelyhood will not be with the club in 2007? The same thing was done with Johnson, Morrell and Bowyer last year, while others like Betts, McGrath and Bentick were in and out of the side all year.

Is it not time to put our time, energy and resources into the young players of the club? Delayed Gratification - what we put into them now, we will be rewarded with in the future.

I spoke to Josh in length on Wednesday night.

He is of course dissapointed not to be playing this week, but was looking forward to playing a full game for the Ants.

At this stage of his development, it is much to the betterment of the team for him to keep up his fitness, after his limited pre season.
