Brought some enthusiasm with him thats been lacking, I'd keep playing him, he'll find his feet.
Third tall, cause he's got pace and lays a good tackle, pitch hits in the ruck as well.

Look after the kid Chris.

Showed lots of aggression and hunger for the ball, which is a bit lacking in a lot of our younger players (excuse bundy, t hunt). Helps to have such a big body, but he will be a player. Good pick.

Mini Mumford
Reminded me heaps of him (in look)
I'll go one step further. Will be as good as Mumford is (as a forward of course)!
I watched the replay looking for details I miss when I am barracking. The number of times Walker got to the ground level contests was very unusual for someone his size. He had an All Australian CHB on him all day also. He is very mobile and that leap against the flight had a bit of the Careys in it (just didn't hang on).
I couldn't believe I was watching a 19 yo in his first game. Must stay in the side.

I just cant believe you watched that game again...:D

Yes like many of you I liked what I saw in Walker.

He is tall and atheletic - and is said to have a good tank. All major assets in our game.

However he has the right attitude - tough, wants to get into a contest and his hands I think will be good enough for him to be a useful CHF or CHB.

Keep the kid in the team - sign him up for 3 years and let him develop. Reckon he should play CHB or on the third opposition tall forward. He will learn a lot and has a good chance of taking a few marks and laying a few tackles. Maybe even a swing player at some stage.

His enthusiam and endeavour count a fair bit for me. We are missing some of these vital ingredients at present.

If we could just get on a bit of a roll - Motlop, Bundy, Duncan, THunt, West, Guthrie and Walker - could be factor late in the season. All are decent footballers already. With a bit more flow in our side they could still rise to the big occasions - and play a useful part in our resurgence.

For me - if Walker makes it, he will be a replacement for a lost tall talent in Egan (who could still be playing age wise). And with Vardy, Brown and Gillies playing in the twos - we have a reasonable chance of replacing some of our taller aging or retired stars.

We still need a strong bodied mid and a more experienced ruck. Both will come but I suspect they are at least another season away.

Somehow I doubt we'll see Walks get out-muscled much in 2014...

Not only a powerful guy but that 2km time trial the other day said plenty about his commitment to season 2014, we really need him to step up now no Pods.

As impressive as his time trials and physique are it will depend on his ability to mark the ball and kick goals and that is the biggest question mark for me.

No doubt he will look like a beast after smashing weights all pre season though

Vardy still my preferred choice for CHF, but I'm certainly not against seeing Walker in the role regularly if he's putting in the hard yards.

I'd be more worried about Vardy putting in the hard yards than Walker, for run and fitness Walker kicks his butt!

But Vardy certainly has the edge in the department.
Vardy has the edge in ability in general. A full preseason and he will be a monster as well

I don't know about that so much, Walker's got a big leap and he's not the pimply faced kid he was by the looks of that photo, big year for him 2014.
Has got a likeness to "big Wayne".

Vardy can kick straight. I've never seen Walker kick straight at AFL level. Is that just a confidence thing that will fix itself in time, like Hawkins did? I hope so.

Has Vardy ever had a full pre-season? This is the first November I can think of where we haven't been hearing about his rehab...
I'd say 1st one... since his 1st one

Walks certainly looks the part. And he finished 2nd to BLitz in the 2k time trial too apparently.

Good to see the tank is still there. Imagine how good he could be when he is 23….

Go Catters

You obviously can develop a lot but some just have it more natural, for a monster he sure can run. :thumbsu:

Wayne Carey? Mayb the most minor physical likeness. Just need to add the ability to mark, kick and play as a key forward at the top level.

Hawkins was always a better kick than Walker though. Right from his first game. It has shown that it was purely confidence with Hawkins. Walker has to overcome confidence and technique.
