Watched the replay of last weeks game the other night and was impressed to see the big fella back into pack marking contests on 2 occasions. I know that this sort of action should be par for the course, especially when you're built like a brick sh1thouse but for a bloke that has copped so much flack for pulling out of these types of contests, he deserves to be recognised when he puts his body on the line. :thumbsu: Joshy - Lets see more of it!!

why is it when there is a thred about something good like this, no one replys ?

but if it was a negative on i.e. " Josh Hunt is a Squib " People would be all over it like a fat kid on a cake ?

Well done Josh your a man Mountain ball eating machine :thumbsu:

I totally agree with ya there mate.
The guy has been awesome this season & deserves alot of praise for the way he's going about his football at the moment.

He was getting pretty good toward the end of last season though. Gave a good showing in the Grand Final early on, especially that boundary line run of his which was particularly awe-inspiring. Before I would have said he is a dead set certainty to be kicked out of the side once Egan comes back, but now I am not so sure.

Has been in great form since the end of last season. I saw that last week, he went back into the pack and got absolutely crunched. We love to see players do it, but I think a lot of people forget how hard it is to do when you're actually playing, you know you're gonna get smashed, you really have to fight all your natural reflexes.

Or what about when we played Port round 1 when he rolled his ankle, and still stayed on the ground for the 2nd and 3rd efforts,Before comming off or calling over the runner's and Dr B.

Josh is fast becoming one of my more respected players, you dont often see guys of his size be so quick :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Exactly and that's the reason for the thread. He deserves the kudos and I thought that more would've been made of it from the commentators at the time but it wasn't to be. Didn't go unrecognised though. His form so far this year has removed him from the fringe player category.

Spot on. Seems to be one of the few players that have improved on last year's effort, and deserves all the praise he's getting at the minute. :thumbsu:

Yes we do agree, unfortunately in the world of 'A current affair' and 'Today Tonight' we are consistently informed that whingeing about every single small insignificant happening in your life is what everyone wants to hear.

Therefore the glass half empty approach is taken.

Josh has been great thus far, sure he has his ups and downs, but he is more consistent this year than I think I have seen in his career. I remember back in '06 I saw him out mid-week on the piss, funnily he was dropped about that time for a while. Maybe he's learnt his lesson and now making solid contributions week in week out because of that.

Well done Josh, going great guns!

I was a big critic of the man in the past.

He has been awesome this season and personally i would rate him an AA chance....but he wont be coz the media have it in for him.

Yeah I used to see him out consistently in '06 off his chops.....i think the whole team changed their ways after that season.

Maybe it's simply a case of surprise that an entire thread is started singing the praises of a guy for doing exactly what he's expected to do week in week out, and what the other players do consistently, which is stand your ground under a high ball even if there's the chance of getting crunched, something he hasn't been renowned for in the past.

Having said that it was pleasing to see him do just that last week, and on several occasions last night.

Hopefully he's now eradicated what was undoubtedly a major flaw in his game and will continue in the vein of the last couple of weeks, full kudos to him if he does.

not much to say that hasnt already been said but i will anyway
josh has always been one of my faves and reckon hes really starting to come good now
thought last night was one of the best games in his career
numerous times i expected him to take an easy out option i.e. run it over the boundry line, but instead he took the game on and got the ball going our way
real steps forward i reckon
also is developing as a brilliant 1-on-1 defender; over the last few weeks has consistently been outmarking his opponent in 1 on 1 contests
keep it up josh

TC:eek:

Plus he is a "can-opener"
opens up the game with that raking left foot. When his kicking's on
( admittedly not as consistently as we would like) he is one of our main offensive weapons off the backline.

Josh was magical last night.
Took a few quality grabs backing into traffic, his kicking was mind blowing as well....oh Joshy you're on fire!!!

Just about the best game I've seen from Josh - backing into packs and outmarking his direct opponent. The great thing about this is that it gives us another backman who can chop out Scarlett and Taylor when they are marking bigger opponets. Previously, this was probably the weakest part of his game.

Remember ~2002-2005 he was considered the best kick in in the entire league? I remember a stat like a total of 1 goal 1 behind came from rebounds of his kick ins for almost a whole season.

He is a great defender, marking well and full of confidence - some of his work right on the boundary line this week when he beat his opponent when 95% of the other players in the league would have settled with taking the ball over the line was fantastic.

Plus he probably has and has had for years the highest muscle:body ratio in the league without losing quickness. Hell if he looked at me i'd probably fall over.
