yer, my dad was saying if we put him 6 feet under we would be 6 feet under

but my dad was flawing it and we were very lucky to miss the great man altogether

when he came up to us, he was the nicest and most well mannered man u could meet, he kept apologising and telling us they really need to change how the lanes work, had a good chat for around 5mins

Working for dad yesterday as both his drivers are ill, and while in brunswick we took a sharp left at his stupid intersectio when a balded headed man ran in front of our car in which my dad slammed on his brakes until my dad turns around and says "we nearly killed that bloke" the man came up to us in which we noticed the man was chris judd and my dad was near shitting himself that he had nearly ran over our captain.

Thank God for the great breaks on the new holden hsv :)

lawl. Walshy has told me all about you and your fetish for CJ.

Just thinking about it, and looking at the picture of Judd, you are very lucky you didn't hit him. Would've made a massive dent in the car!

It's not a matter of blaming Fev. He is who he is.
A great player not designed to fall into a team model.

It is now very much for us to see how this new found "happiness" translates into on field success

I sure hope your right there Harker, cause I'm still not convinced this club is capable of kicking winning scores against sides with monster foward lines like Brisbane, Adelaide, Tasmania, St.Kilda etc ..

But I've been wrong many times in the past, so lets hope the tradition continues :D

"Juddy is a totally different person around the club since Fev’s gone.
He has come out of his shell even more and has become a complete leader, on and off the ground.
Due to Fev being such a powerful personality around the club, his sometimes selfish ways influenced the group which Juddy couldn't completely change. Goes back to the culture of the group".

I'm new to BF and don't post too often but the comment about Judd's new found personality and leadership bothers me slightly.

Whilst I agree that Carlton will benefit from the trade down track, I can recall Judd's plea to Woosha, demanding WC trade for Fev to improve their forward line. A couple of years later the two are united thanks to Richard Pratt and Greg Swann.

We would all agree that Fev is a champion of the game, some would say a flawed genius who believed his own hype, who honestly thought he was bigger than the club. However, we all forget that Fev was a creation of the CFC and his so called "powerful personality" is a direct result of former coaches and MC who were unwilling to curtail his behavior. David Parkin publicly admitted being too soft with Fev when he was in charge.

A captain and true leader, with the support of the leadership group and MC should have addressed Fev's issues from day dot. Whether that be via suspension, fines, compulsive counseling, appointing an external mentor/chaperon, consultation with Fev's partner and family. The club has ultimately let him down. Their failure to understand and control Fev's inner beast was the beginning of his demise and CFC's loss.

I have nothing against Judd. Best acquisition ever for CFC. The consummate professional, who with the assistance of Justin Cordy, development coaches and MC have transformed a bunch of lazy footballers into semi decent athletes. There is room for improvement but the foundations have been laid and the boys will only get better.

My point is this, Judd should be man enough to tackle Fev head on. If Judd and co can hand on heart say they did everything humanly possible, explored every possible avenue within their powers and have left no stone unturned but to no avail, then Fev's trade is justified.

As for the "behind closed doors" scenario, I work for a large organisation and I fully understand the machinations of the boardroom. For those who haven't had the pleasure, its not for the faint hearted and can be quite brutal. Its a practice I don't endorse. There are other means to address insolence.

I'm not sure how other posters feel, but IMO Fev will always be a part of the CFC family. I think that's something posters disregard and over look; we are all part of the Carlton family and NO family is perfect, nor do they come without their challenges. I hope for Fev's sake he has finally woken up and truly endeavors to make the best of what's left of his football career.

As for Judd, I bear no grudge but sometimes a man needs to be a man. Does that make sense? ;)

I really do hope Carlton prove to all and sundry that there is life after Fev and we become the powerhouse CFC once was. :thumbsu:

I am sorry but I dont believe this "Fev was created by the CFC" crap thats always spouted around !!!!!!! I grew up in the Western Suburbs (Laverton) in a single parent household (One of the most caring mothers anyone could have :p), yet I am now at Melbourne University doing a PhD. My brother, who grew up in the same household and in the same environment, is a 30+ yr old drug adict. It is not the environment which creates a problem, it is the individual.

Fev should have been pulled into line when he first got to the club, but he is ALSO A GROWN MAN. His personality developed YEARS before he got to the club, and if he was able to be turned around by the club it would be a miracle, not an expected outcome. Fev had the world at his feet, a club that loved him and supported him, a budding AFL career. He just couldn't grow up and take responsability for his own actions. If he wasn't such a great player then people wouldn't think twice about him being traded out of the club ................

As for Judd urging Woosha to trade for Fev up to the Eagles, it is a different situation between ACQUIRING a player that comes to your club and being able to control him and going to a new club and trying to control the established players. Fev found himself in a situation where there wasn't a great deal of strong, senior players at the Blues as he started to develop into a star thus there was noone to pull him into line (but he shouldn't have been as far out of line as he was in the first place). If Fev did get recruited to the Eagles then he would be going to a new club with an established senior group where HE had to be the one who fitted in with Judd and Co. not Judd having to fit in with a new team.

It will be inetersting to see how the Lions can handle Judd. They have an established senior group (Brown, Black, Power etc) and Brown is already a star forward, so he wont/shouldn't feel like he holds power at the club. If they can't keep him in line then there is no way we could have ever done it ...............

As for weither or not the Fev trade is justified, the trade wasn't made solely on the events of Brownlow night, or the events since Judd got to the club. It was made due to the accumulation of events which have occured during his whole career at the club. If there was say a 2-3 year window where NOTHING had occured then you could probably put down his initial indisgressions when he first got to the club as a kid maturing, but he has always pushed the boundries at the Blues. It's been a giant power struggle with the club since he arrived, and it got to the point where enough was enough and he had to be moved on. There is no "if this or that happens then the trade is justified", the trade is ALREADY justified, and is probably over due if anything.

I love the Fev, and he was one of the players I cheered hardest for. Nothing was better than screaming out FEVOLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA after his 4th goal of a game at the MCG, but every time you looked at the back pages of the HS and seen that Fev has pissed on another window or once again been a drunken idiot it mad himself and the club look bad.

You can't blame Judd for Fev leaving, or not being able to pull Fev into line. If anything, in hinde sight, it would have been better if Fev was involved in the trade that got Judd to Carlton in the first place. That said, what's done is done, I hope Fev uses this as a wake up call and pulls his head in in Brisbane (before Brown rips is off .......... lol)

As much as I loved the Fev he would have been a nightmare to handle, unfortunately he was allowed to get away with too much over his career.

Judd is very much a follow my example kind of leader not one that yells and screams. Now the players know that if you don't do the right things you will be very quickly left by the wayside.

Now that Fev and stevo have left, it only really leaves Scotty from the old party boys and he is fighting for his career.

I can't wait to see the new Blues run out under our "new" skipper. Although the 09 model was pretty good.

Fev is a very powerful precence both physically and in personality. Think it is reasonable to suggest that Judd was in some ways inhibited or overwhelmed at times by Fev. Think some others were too and I think Setanta may be one who becomes more stable and consistent with Fev gone. Having said this it should be the aim of people like Judd and co to be strong enough emotionally to handle people like Fev by being more aware to the subtle influences being absorbed. I think overall Fev was too powerful for the club and may prove similarly at Brisbane. To my mind the environment most suited to handling and empowering Fev would have been Geelong.

Coryne,

I think you missed the point of my post.

I repect your point of view but I think its best to agree to disagree for the sake of haromny. I can relate to your brother's situation although in reverse.

Prominent individual who had the world at their feet, came from a loving family who's parents are devoted to providing the best for their children because they could, but went off the rails and lost his battle with drug addiction. External influences got the better of him and all the love and money in the world could not have prevented his dimise. The help he required did not reach him until it was too late to reform his habits and remove him from the social influences which overwhelmed him.

I don't want to continue this post, so I'll stop here.

Should send this pic to the Adelaide footy club, as soon as his opponent see it he would be shitting himself. Now the Shirley has gone is there anyone who could stop him?

Plenty....remember Rnd 22? That was my first game for 2yrs as I live in NL. Anyway I came away thinking our biggest need is defensive midfielders.....so I'm very happy with our draft choices..

GO Blues!!
