He's on similar money to what Buckley, Hird, Kouta and Voss have been on. Many clubs have one or two very high priced players.

Another way to look at it is he takes up about same the salary cap space as Nathan Brown and Richo; so if he can make it out on to the ground, kick a few points and frown a bit we're no worse off than you.

Just wondering what you guys think about paying close to a quarter of the salary cap on one player. If I remeber correctly you guys were paying Kouta over a million a year and it really hurt your club.

Not saying Judd is not worth it but what happens if you have some success and you need to upgrade some of your younger emerging players. The Lions and Swans for instance have cap concessions whilst clubs like West Coast and Gellong have no players being paid over a million dollars a year.

Could come back to haunt you guys and girls.

Nice try be no differ when he was at wce with Kerr & Cousins and would take more then Judd to go over the cap now Kouta & Whitnall retired so can ya think of any more excuses better luck next time now go back to your own thread :thumbsu:

Judd joined Carlton for the money?
Your suggestion is so disrepectful to the bloke who is possibly the best footy player ever.
You obviously didn't hear the interview when he talked about the 'East Coast Eagles'. If you were based in Melbourne, he'd still be with you. He loved your club, played his heart out, and was the Captain of a Premership side. At Carlton, we call that type of person a Legend. At your insignificant club which represents no known suburb of Perth, well, I suppose you just have another line.

the fact that carlton fans are still to accept that judd only joined them because of the money he will recieve both publiclly and privately is a fair indication that discussing this issue with any dose of reality is really quite impossible.

Enjoy him, you earnt him.

cuz, of late, was on a reduced contract...i think at most he was on 800k. Dont know about Kerr. Its a moot point anyway, if we could fit in those 3 along with Embley, Braun, Stenglein etc etc, im sure Carlton could pay him just about what he wants. If in doubt front load it, which sounds like it has been done.

Greg Swann has stated several times in referrence to players we may be seeking, prior to trade week (Baker, McGuire) and since with the PSD (Rutten, McGrath) that we have plenty of room to accomodate another big name if they were available.

Given that out TPP will probably be more heavily scrutinsed due to Judd arriving, I see no reason why he would draw attention tho this by making such statements unless he was 100% correct.

Given that then, we have still got room in the cap to allow for pay rises, and Icke and Swann are not dumb enough to overpay a list that to this point in time has achieved very little.

Due to the need to pay out 93% of the cap, Icke could argue with some of the current list, that they have been overpaid, and before too long they either take a pay cut or get delisted.

One such case is Ackland. Reported to be on $300k per year. We all know he isn't worth it, but by paying him over the odds, when we know it will be for a short term, it helps us cover the 93% without overpaying guys who might be in a position to argue for pay rises on the near future.
Cain on the other hand will free up $300k at the end of this year when he is delisted.

Others like Houlihan, Bentick and Thornton will need to be aware that they have probably been paid above the odds in past years to get the cap to 93%, and in order to increase the pay for GIbbs, Murph etc they will not get a pay rise, or may even need to take a small cut. If they don't they may be traded. See what the swans and Cats had to do this year for salary cap relief.

Don't worry people. He isn't on the money that is being reported (25% of TPP ), and have faith in the current administration.

Really???

If i'm not mistaken i'm sure Collingwood, Melbourne and Essendon were offering the same amount of money!!

So if he went to Carlton for the money can you show me the evidence??

Listen to Judd's press conference, he went somewhere that he thought he could have an impact, young EXCITING list, good administration, helping a club from the bottom up!!! Didn't hear 'i went for the money'

You don't even list the team you follow, are you embarrassed??

Actually the fact that trolls like yourself continue to pedal this crap is the reason why this can't be discussed with any dose of reality.

The Dees have an ageing and decaying list that is trying one last ditch effort before rebuilding.

The Dons midfield is a joke and Judd didn't fancy being the lone hand with 2-3 opponents belting the crap out of him each week.

The Pies would have been the closest fit, but Judd realised that for them to get the deal done they would have to give away 2-3 good young players, and have a group of ageing stars that will be gone soon, putting them in a closer position to the Dees.

The FACT is (for the millionth time) that we were the only one of those three who have youth across every line (i.e. began rebuilding years ago), who aren't about to lose anyone of significance, and who has a good young midfield that will mean Judd won't be a lone hand.

EVERY club that was a potential suitor would have met his financial terms.
This was NEVER an issue, and for you to continue to pedal is a patheitc arguement.

Thanks for playing.

I can understand your point but...
The bottom line is that Carlton would never give Judd a salary that would in the future put serious doubt on us being able to hold onto players such as Gibbs, Murphy, Fevola etc.
Plus as someone mentioned before Kouta, Whitnall and Lappin all leaving would have freed up a sum not too far from $1 million.
