Even the home jumper has changed a bit, despite us all saying "the home jumper has never changed". The green is now darker, and the anchor is more stylised (realistic??) and a lot deeper than it used to be.

But the home jumper only changed due to us changing from woolen to synthetic jumpers.

If you want to recognise that as a "jumper change" then there isn't an AFL club going around that hasn't changed there AFL jumper a bit.

You're right - and I fully ackowledge that... but there have been subtle changes with changes in technology. And the green is different...

Opinions are like backsides... yada yada yada... ;)

I would just like to see us simplify things and ditch the red and green. Maybe bring the "original" jumper out for Heritage round... But that's just my opinion. :)

your opinion is wrong, WRONG I TELL YA :p

I use to be on the same bandwagon as you IP, but now think the jumper is fantastic. I want to see us wearing when we win our first premiership. It Acknowledges everything Fremantle is.

How about this one

could work as a wedding dress i guess, as a jumper not a fan, think about it i'm assuming both whites are of the same white so the anchor is pretty much removed. The only reason it sis visible here is because they are of different shades/textures. nice try though

No way should we ditch the red and green. There are two things that connect our home jumper with Fremantle's maritime history.

The anchor and the red and green cardinal marks.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, channel markers, navigation lights etc. are designated as green represents starboard side, red represents port side.

Why would we want to toss aside our jumper's connection with Fremantle?

Who gives a toss about this red & green maritime symbolism really????

Maybe blue should be in there then, you know to symbolise the water at the port ????

Yeah, that's original. Carlton, Geelong, West Coast, North Melbourne, Melbourne, Brisbane and Footscray all have blue as a part of their uniform if you haven't noticed. We wouldn't clash with them at all.

You forgot Adelaide have a dark blue and Port have teal, which is just a light blue as a part of their uniform if you haven't noticed.;)

For 100 years the AFL (or VFL) had 6 of those teams with blue in their uniform with no problems. They had differing designs & away shorts to differentiate teams. Nowadays, with more teams they have clash guernseys. I'm not actually advocating blue, just saying that we didn't have to pick completely different colours to avoid any clash with anyone, ever. CC once said that Freo's colours don't clash with anyone, just with themselves. I can't argue with that. I'm confident that Freo will quite naturally, over time drop the green and red. It'll probably take bean counters analysing jumper sales to do it

The bottom line is the red and green just look bad!

Personally I reckon the red and green give the guernsey a lot of character and is unique, not just in this comp, but world wide.

If it was a fad color like teal i'd agree ditching it, but I reckon the Freo colors as they stand now are fantastic.

Well, fremantle were originally going to adopt blue instead of purple but because there was apparently a lot of uproars about it with regards to it being too similar to the mob up the road they changed it.

I am no fan of the back of our current home jumper

Fremantle-Home-2005.gif

It is too similar to Melbourne's and compared to the good design at the front just looks like an afterthought. With sponsors logos it just ends up looking very busy and distracting.

I reckon keep the front, it's great, but use an all purple back

If needs be, go all purple with red and green cuffs.

I haven't heard that one. I thought that the bizarre jumper/song/nickname were the result of the AFL boss at the time, Ross Oakley, telling the people setting up FFC that he 'would like to see something non traditional'. See the documentary 'Birth of the Dockers'

Your absolutely right about it looking similar to melbourne from the back, me and my mates have been saying that for a while now, but to get rid of the colour altogether? I don't know, what about if we removed the two coloured 'tags' or whatever thery're called and just add colour like melbourne have on the lseeves in they're repective spots.

Coloured cuffs would be ok.

I feel the front of our guernsey should be representative of our logo, but from the back we should leave it simple. Just using our main colour would be perfect for the back.

I actually like this.
I did tried to do my favourite combo with the jumper designs but i'm not very good at colouring in. I like an all purple jumper with a black anchor. I think the purple and black combination for home games and the purple and white for away would look fantastic.
