I really don't understand why we don't have big numbers in the AFL? Giles would look great in 88.

29: Fantasia
30: Ambrose
33: Gwilt
34: Laverde
37: Langford
42: Long
44: Milham

Actually, good call on Fantasia
29: Fantasia
30: Langford
33: Gwilt
34: Laverde
37: Long
44: Ruck

Leave Ambrose in 47. Bags shoulda stayed in 46, even Hibberd in 43.

I like the rookies staying in high numbers, like Howlett and Hocking. Shows workman-like backgrounds.

Does it really matter? There is no rule that says numbers absolutely have to follow familial linage.

Jobe never wore 32.
I still dream of seeing Jobe play in 32..Grew up idolizing Tim...
Would love to see Jake in 13 one day..Welcome to the club Jake...
Fletch's kids to take over 31 the year after he retires...
Hirdy's kids to wear 3,4 and 5..
A wallis in 21...H.Daniher in 7...

It's like a fairytale...Laverde to get number 8 after his first year rising star award...Carlton...LOL

Stants to be traded next year and Laverde to take #5...
This is a joke surely.
Already?
2015 season is what, 5 months away. But we're already suggesting we trade Stanton?

What a ****ing place this is.

Langford wearing 30 according to Twitter. Would presume it'll either be Laverde into 34 with Fantasia into 29 or Laverde will get 29.

Preferably the first with Laberde an upgrade chance later

Because a) there aren't 88 players on a list (or anything near that) and b) there aren't number-related positional restrictions.

Meh. Every other sport does it. I also like the idea of numbers being retired. Like I'd love to see Fletcher's number retire after he retires.

Retiring numbers is absolute rubbish. Eventually you would have no numbers under 50.
Resting numbers for a year is ok for club champions if no-one is ready for it, like Fletcher for example.
High numbers is also dumb. Jumper numbers are a tradition and is exciting when they are passed on to new players, and that includes having upgrades.
Players like it too, when they come to a club and they are given a jumper number rich in tradition from those who came before them. It is such an honour and privelege.
