Im part of the team helping RFC with their recent design....

Few questions

A) Do you get the Jungle Beat newsletter
B) If not - why not?
C) Do you like the new design we launched this week
D) What would you like to see in there?

After chatting with them, they like to think of it as their website in your inbox. If you cant make it to the website, Richmond hope to catch you up with everything whilst in season, giving you get the team on the dot at 5pm. Which leads me to my next question

Do you use Jungle Beat as your source for team news?

Would love any feedback...

Thanks

Just give it a quick scan. I've usually found out the news from here. The one thing I might look more closely at is the week's ins and outs.

Hey DoubleA, very cool that you're involved. I'm happy to pass on some feedback, but it's possibly a bit negative, but it's also only my opinion.

Firstly, I'm glad it's being re-vamped since I never really liked the old one.

Since this email is always delivered on a Thursday evening, for me, and I assume many, the number one content is the selected team for the coming week's game. So I like for it to be easily seen right away, which means having it reasonably close to the top of the email. To achieve this, i would suggest getting all those links currently near the top and arranging them in two horizontal strips across the page. The important ones above the team (News, Season, Players, M'ship, Store), and the others below the team (Corporate, Contact).

The colour scheme for the team layout has always been an issue for me, in the old format, and even in the new :(
I understand it's probably not an easy job to get something that works well with our colours, but the white and grey backgrounds just look very yukky to me. Not that I have a good alternate suggestion right off the top of my head.

In fact, I'm not totally sold on the whole layout of the team thing. Not being an old stick in the mud here, but sometimes I wonder whether the idea of lines across the page (B, HB, C, HF, F, R, I/C) isn't just the best solution. I had to really look with intent at this weeks layout for it to sink in what was going on, to see who was named where. And it took some time for me to realise that the lines in the background were the ground markings.

I think there could also somehow be a better emphasis on the INS/OUTS, since that is the main thing we want to see when we look to the week's team.

The inclusion of the broadcast details is excellent, and well laid out. The clear white font on black background with yellow headers/borders works very well.

I'm not sure if the players icons can be made links to their profiles on the website. And on that, if the players profile pages could have a list of recent news articles related to the player, then even better... but I'm sure that's beyond the scope of this thread :)

I hope I haven't seemed to petty in my comments, but I really do think it is a great incentive. And I also realise that my suggestions are not the opinions of all, so just throwing them out there.

Good luck, and keep up the good work :thumbsu:
