Murphy is preselected as an international rookie by the Swans and is included on our rookie list.
As I mentioned previously in another thread, whilst Tadhg has been a great success, another Irish rookie called Declan O'Mahony came out here for 2003 and was home within a matter of weeks, so hopefully Murphy fulfills our hopes, but lets not get carried away just yet.

Bearing in mind we will most likely lose Tadgh at the end of his current contract, we've added some more pace\depth on the wing (Mattner).
Bearing in mind that O'Loughlin is "getting on", we've added a potentially good forward option according to Cats fans (Playfair).
Bearing in mind we need some youth we've kept our 1st round pick this year.
Bearing in mind we need to give some of our current youth stocks more game time (Schmidt, Barlow, etc) we've offloaded Schneider and Dempster fairly cheaply.
Does that sound a reasonable overview to most fans?
i've been told by more than one person that playfair was outstanding in the geelong vfl side, just could not crack it with the seniors going so well, and the player himself admitted he didn't play well when he got a chance in round 21 in the loss to port....
i have no problem with mattner and playfair, and the business about them being older than schneider and dempster is irrelevant if, as roos and co believed, the two now ex-swans had exhausted their chances in cementing a spot in our best 22....i know dempster had been very disappoiunting, and schneider was so inconsistent, so in mattner we get a genuine quality player (he had problems with neil craig at adelaide, there's no doubting he can play) and a tall who is very keen for a crack and is happy to come to sydney
seriously, though, if we go into 08 with crouch, mathews, mcveigh and bevan as part of the 22, it spoils everything...this is our chance to really start afresh
play bir and d o'keefe, play jesse white and dan currie, put mattner on a wing, play henry at CHF or FF, with baz the alternate, put micky o in a forward pocket, move leo to a less resopnsible backman role, a pocket or flank so he can run a bit but not so we rely on him on a key forward, get the malch closer to the ball.....
just please PLEASE tell crouch and mathews thanks, and goodnight, and get bevan and mcveigh out of the team
