The problem with your lads is that they are just too soft. I think the richmond boys are a bit too full of their own importance, forget about their hair, their salaries, their egos, just go out their and play footy. There must be a lot of satisfaction in playing afl, but god there isn't much difference when you lose like they do whether or not you are playing 2nd division amateurs or afl, pride is not something bought or paid for with dollars. Richmond players have to realise that being a richmond footballer does not give them an automatic entry into rock and roll star status ( or it shouldn't) i suggest a few of richmonds mid range players go and chat to Brett Voss about getting the utmost out of your talent.

I am a lions supporter, this is an attempt to be constructive, this isn't a put richmond down thread. I would love to hear your club song (the best in the league) sung more often.

Fleming, chaffey, AK, DK, Zantuck, Newman, Coghlan, Staff, Dutchy, Johnson, Rodan,

off the top of my head there is 11 of our team from Sat that i would consider not soft (apologies to the others that fit this category that i have missed) - that is enough.

Its not that we are soft. It is how we use the ball.

spot on, we r soft as half melted butter......

i can only remember 2 games off the top of my head in the past few years where i can say proudly, "our boys were hard ALL DAY 2day" once was against carlton in the finals 2001, and the other time was the return knighta V libba bout......those 2 games, the players had this steely resolve where they were COLLECTIVELY (not 5 or 6 usual suspects) throwing themselves in recklessly for the ball.......

unfortunately most richmond supporters have grown dottard just like the majority of ppl at the club, where they have this tunnel vision and only c wot they want 2 c, or more aptly put dont c wot they dont want 2 c........ a perfect example is after 8 bloody losses in a row, there were more than a few supporters on these boards who started talking finals after we belted the pathetic bulldogs

its just like how pettifer and houlihan will be promoted this week, after booting 10 goals in the magoos, even though when it was on the line stuff mid season these 2 clowns didnt sound a peep....

im disgusted with how this club has evolved, we r a DISGRACE

I think we are hard.

I recently read a piece that described the difference between hard and strong.

Being Strong is to be tough and resilient. Able to endure but also able to give and flex.

Being hard is also being tough but unable to yield and too easy to shatter.

This is us!:(

i think ur wrong, "unable to yield" that most certainly is NOT us, we yield all to easily, too often

Normally i'd tell you acuguy to go and get stuffed (in the nicest possible way of course lol) but i suspect the majority of what you say is correct.

Don't like the word "soft" though, even if we do have a few players who fit that category.

How about the word "inept" - there's one word, among many others.

Always like to see an outsider's view, even though they don't see a team week in and week out like we do and have to "suffer" (another good word).

Cheers

mentally soft thats the problem
they are all head cases!!!!!
all except cogs and johnno.
i mean we have the biggest head case of them all leading us
richo-that says it all to me.

i think it needs to be said that i would love richmond to once again be a force in the afl, got to love your song. Soft applies to both mentally and physically. You have to feel for your campbells, coghlans and Johnsons, that is where your leadership is, put them in charge.

Here is my step up list for next year

Ottens- Needs to step up, become number one ruckman not only for richmond but in the game, if he can't do it, trade him and devleop someone with the heart and talent too.

Holland- has all the attributes to be a leader, now just needs the body injury free, vital to richmond, more value than richardson

Fiora- Shows everything, but delivers only when suits, needs to put on weight, if he doesn't bulk up next season he is best to be traded to a teamthat don't require hard at it players as much as richmond does.

Would like to see tivendale take his game to the next level, he should be on par with Coughlan, but that is not the case, imagine if it was, Richmond would be on its way to having two future elite onballers.

Go the Yellow and Black
