Gimelstob has been suspended for one week from playing World Team Tennis, where Kournikova is on a rival team, after verbally mauling the sport's former cover girl.

"She's a bitch," Gimelstob said.

"We're gonna kick her a--hole.

"Hate's a very strong word. I just despise her to the maximum level, right below hate.

"I think she falls into the Marcelo Rios scumbag category. And this whole bluff about her retiring because of her back? She had the yips on her serve, she can't get her serve on the court."

Asked if he had ever been attracted to Kournikova, Gimelstob raged: "Definitely not. I have no attraction to her, because she's such a douche.

"I really have no interest in her. I wouldn't mind having my younger brother, who's kind of a stud, nail her and then reap the benefits of that."

Gimelstob then described Frenchwoman Tatiana Golovin as a "sexpot", her compatriot Alize Cornet a "little sexpot" and Nicole Vaidisova "a well-developed young lady".

Returning to tennis, Gimelstob said he couldn't wait to tackle Kournikova on court.

"I'll mock her and make fun of her. I'll just make her know that she's stupid," he said.

He'll make fun of her???? She may have not delivered as much as she promised but she did make it to a single figure ranking at her peak. If you had a face like him and were nothing but a dud of a tennis player like him, you would be bitter with the world too.

He is a typical loud mouthed American.

Interesting than Serena Williams defended Anna. Serena I believe is friends with Anna and obviously knows her on a personal level, but she is also a team mate of Gimelstob in the WTT. Gimelstob has now been suspended by the WTT and been forced to issue an apology.

Probably because he never did anything. Was at best top 100 player, a bit of a serve volleyer who had most success on grass.

He was still playing on the our as late as last year, but stank it up big time.

Similar but gooch has a bigger serve and more weapons.

To Gimelstob's credit he never could be accused of not putting everything he had into each match. Made the most of his limited ability. Injuries played a large part in his career.

I don't think Gimelstob is inferring that he nailed Golivin. Gimelstob isn't the best looking bloke, however if he did, then it does give hope to us all.

Actually, reading all this about Gimelstob and Rios took me back to the early 90s when Krajicek pulled probably the funniest stunt I've seen in tennis. He made a public statement proclaiming that 80% of all women tennis players were fat pigs. Of course the tennis world was up in arms over this, so he called a press conference with everyone expecting him to apologise. His message? He actually meant to say that only 75% of all women tennis players were fat pigs
