Agreed. After seeing the news clip it seems incomprehensible that he only got 6 months. Amongst a number of other serious issues, the female victim lost a finger due to an assault with a blow torch. Pathetically lenient sentence, but not surprised.

How come Cats fans didn't like him?

My recollection was for siding with Carlton players after the Milburn/Silvagni incident whilst still playing with Geelong (not entirely unreasonable if you ask me - a shitty act it was) - But Murphy has a history of very poor behaviour. There was an incident in a bank when a lady left a purse behind - he withdrew money from it and then threw the purse in the bin. That sort of behaviour is unconscionable and almost sociopathic, not sure whether than was pre or post drug use.
