I've just been looking over the 2005 draft list as part of a uni assignment and I came across the name Justin Sweeney - which brought back memories of this kid that you'd plucked from virtual obscurity with your last pick in the national draft...

anyway, point is, how's Justin travelling this season?

and does this pick look like paying off?

Played alright a week or two from what i can remember. He's a forward yet not overly tall. Seems to attack the ball hard. Havnt seen alot though.

Apparently he kicked four in his best match for the Scorpions so far on the weekend.

Haven't seen much either though, I must admit.

I like the look of him.

He presents well, doesn't let the ball out of 50 easily, is a good mark and reliable kick.

Has been kicking plenty of goals with the scorps and could be a chance of getting a game later this season.

It's very encouraging to see how well he is doing so early in his career.

As another JB smokey I wouldn't have expected to see him in the seniors until at least next season. However if he keeps kicking goals he might make himself impossible to leave out.

Although as Rix has shown good VFL form doesn't necessarily get you selected.

basically, I'm writing a 1500-worder on the state of Tasmanian football, which led me to a quick look over the recent draft lists to see just how many Tasmanian kids have been drafted lately, which then led me to the name Justin Sweeney...
