JW Player on Mac – Malware? How to Remove?

So about a fortnight ago I started getting random video players pop up from something called JW Player. It came, and still does come, up on every fourth or fifth website I load. It's essentially an overlay and attempts to play an ad – though I have an Platinum Membership - https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/account/upgrades and presume this is stopping the actual ad playing, though the 'player' itself still sits there.

I cannot seem to get onto a decent forum or website to remove it. It seems impossible to get rid of.

I'm on a Mac.

Does anyone have any idea if this is malware? Or any kind of virus? But most importantly... how do I get rid of it?

Chrome, 34.0-something, the latest one.

You might have a dodgy extension installed.

Try check your extensions and remove any that you haven't installed manually. JW player is usually a HTML 5 video player (as far as I know) but did a little search and found this: http://www.safebro.com/jw-player-virus-remove

I didn't read it all but it might be some help to you if removing extensions doesn't help.
