Fall Out Boy

Someone raised this on the radio this morning.

Carlton's Kade Simpson has played 3 AFL games and hasn't had one possession. His only stats being 3 tackles.

Has any other player played 3 or more games without touching the football?

Patrick Wiggins could probably match this. He has now played 10 games for 17 possessions.

Remarkable.

In Simpson's defence he's only played about 40 minutes. And, this weekend he played a full game in the VFL on Saturday, then flew to Adelaide to play in the seniors. That's a big ask of a bloke in his first year.

I don't really think there really is valid defense for a bloke who has played 3 games of senior footy, and is yet to gather a posession...

Maybe his team-mates hate him...

Kick him, he's useless right, just like all the other carlton youngsters, kick us kick him kick anything carlton.

IT'S THE COLLINGWOOD WAY.

****head.

Simpson was a fair talent at u18 level but was over looked because of his size and so was still available late in the draft. Basically he is too small for league footy. Carlton had to take a risk given its draft picks, but this one wont pay off. I feel the same way about marty mcGrath.

Phat Side, ever heard of a gym?

You cant comment on him when you dont see him play every week.

Yep I have heard of a gym. You ever heard of genes? Biology maybe. Hard gainers?

I can comment. I just did. And will again. Not big enough. Youll see.

Give the poor bastard a break. His mates hardly get the footy, so I don't know why he should be singled out ;)

Not sure where Simpson was taken , but McGrath was 77 so i think it was worth the punt.

I seen young Simpson on Sunday, and fair dinkum, i had thought a mini league kid had run out early...he is so SMALL..obviously has something though, and good luck to him, but he didnt look like getting a kick... but who know's if he grows a heap, and hits the weights!!!! The one at carlton i wanna know about is Croad..the younger bro to Trent, is he just a dud, or injured, cause they were givin him big wraps pre-season, and i seen him in u18's and thought he was nothing special, then there playin this mini league candidate Simpson in ft of him, Croad cant be doin to well.....anyone know!!!

Cameron Croad went into hospital last weekend to clean out his shoulder, which I think was reconstructed at U18 level. Croad's form in the VFL? Early in the year he wouldn't put his body into a marking contest then played a few weeks of good football then the last few weeks he had been going for the football with no commitment. I think his shoulder has been giving him problems all year both mental and physical. The kid is lightning fast over twenty metres and can play but often looks lost, who knows, he's got one more year to work himself out and hopefully get confidence in his shoulder.

As far the butt of this thread Kade Simpson, the kid is a standout at VFL level, has a penetrating left foot with great accuracy but is just too light for AFL this year. Don't laugh too hard at kade Simpson's stats, he's got plenty of ability, his future will be determined by whether he can build himself up over a couple of pre-seasons.

Don't tell Brent Harvey, then. Simpson is 13 centimetres taller than him and only 4 kgs lighter. Lacks nothing a couple of big pre-seasons won't fix. Is quick, elusive and has great depth in his kicking. All Australian under-18 who was tipped by Kevin Sheehan as a top 20 pick. If they had the draft again I'd be more than happy if we picked him up in the same spot: 45.

Not trolling by bumping this thread. It does give a fair indication about how easy it is to write someone off. The importance of physical development and an apprenticeship in the VFL can not be underestimated when it comes to later draft picks.

I think it is safe to say that Simpson has made it at AFL level. How far he makes it is up to him.

Quite amazing how many people wrote him off.

Now, he's a decent player and is improving. He finds the ball and uses it well and can only improve.

good on him!

I've kept a real close eye on him this year, and he just seems to go from strength to strength, will be a great midfielder for the blues in the long run, and his ability to run so fast and so far is absolutely fantastic.

If you were a Carlton supporter who saw this skinny kid carving it up in the VFL in his first year, you were never in doubt that he'd come on.
