Every time 'Sugar' gets the ball he stops, goes back, turns around, has some further indecision and then most of the time turns it over.

He didn't do this in his time at Adelaide why is he doing it playing for the club he supported as a kid?

Perhaps it has something to do with the decrease in the soft tissue injuries he used to shread; I cannot fathom an alternate reason for his hackiness.

I didnt think he was too bad today. He lead the way right at the start. His attempted shot at goal in the last quarter was horrible though. I also heard his field kicking was at 53% (or something). Thats pretty bad by anyones standard.

he does have a few turnovers but he can get the ball and shut players down.

But Richmond don't want the captain of their club and a player they went to great effort to draft in to be a tagger though.

Other than Vandenberg (and to a lesser extent Simpson) who I still think is (are) better than Johnson all other clubs have captains who can and or have won many games off their own boot for their clubs.

he also holds onto the ball way too long. He has 2 easy option, one at 15 the other at 25, ignores them until the very last second then just as hes called to play on he realises those players are manned up now and kicks it to a 1x2 or 2x3 contest 35 metres away. Hes a shocker. Does this type of thing all the time..

He was good today, at points the tigers players were playing on way too much, and it was getting them into strife. he did well (he did still make a couple of mistakes, but they all did)

waste of space......one of the worst mistakes the tigers have ever made in the trade stakes. It even surpasses the ****ed up number 1 **** ups over the stretch. And here we are and we have him as captain? FFS....do they know WTF they are on about down at punt rd or what? ;)

We see it every week, other supporters see it every week, and it is commented on this forum every week without fail. Yet his coach and football club fail to see it?WTF!!!

Richmond are the only club playing aussie rules in this country that have players that go backwards in ability and never improve the skill level. My faith from the end of last year is just about gone.

Kane Johnson was good when we recruited him. He deserved the captaincy - look at this boards history if you dont believe me. The last couple of years has been a slow decent. Its amazing really.

We'll surely change captains after this season. Hopefully.

Has to go to Richo. All the pride in the world.

i completely agree he shouldnt be captain, he brings the team down in that aspect, but i think their is others that need to be fried before him. Its no point getting rid of experienced players, and he does do an ok job when the heat is on (70% of the time).

I think give him a run as just a player, not a captain, if he doesent do well by the end of next year think about moving him.

He wasnt too bad at adelaide, if he really tried im sure he could make something of his career

Dude, he looked good because of who he was playing with and the stars he had around him. Prime example is how some of the Eagles players are going without Kerr,Cousins, and Judd injured at the moment. They look great when those blokes are dominating games and ordinary when they are not there.

Credit where it's due, I thought Kane was much better yesterday.

Conversely Tivendale, Raines, Howat and especially Hyde were terrible.

Foley tried hard as always but he and more so King seem to now be getting effected by the hacks they play with in regard to dicission making and awareness. Having said this, it is more likely due to the style of play etc.

I thought Edwards, Newman, Thursfield, Riewoldt and Pattison all put in encouraging performances.

Finally as always, Richo did the best he could working against rubbish delivery, a solid first half by Thurstans and 2-3 poor umpiring non-decisions.

I agree that Johnson's confidence must be low, but surely he's injured or something as well?

If you watch his kicking this year he tends to kick it very low and flat without much power. The ball skids before the target can get to it.

Drives me nuts. But maybe he's carrying a soft tissue injury.

for the other catain we had that was traded??

We traded Jeff Hogg to fitzroy when he was captain, and got back broderick, m.gale and a couple of duds named dundas and elliott in return. Ah, fitzroy. we should have propped them up just to make us look good. still, maybe freo will take sugar for haselby and throw in josh carr.

Quite sure some of you bagging him out on the thread were just about ready to pipe him off last year after winning our b&f. Setlle down ffs! The whole team is way down on confidence and EVERYONE is playing like shit. Agreed K Johnson is not our best candidate for captain, however he is a very good player, and a valuable member of the rfc.
He does need to give up the captaincy, but is deffinantly worth more to the team than he is on the trade table.

johnson was rubbish yeturday

his direct oponent burgoyne kicked 4 goals set up plenty of others and had about 20+ disposals.

johnson may of had more disposals but he butchered most which resulted in more port goals.

he probably wont go from being captain to the scrap heap but shit hes been out of form for 16 rounds now, makes whitnal look like a champ.

Completely agree, I should have qualified my comment. It was only in reference to why I started the thread, his poor decision making and ball usage.

Although he did still make some ridiculous errors these were far less prevalent in his game than last week. While stats don't tell the whole story and his possessions were by no means damaging; his efficiency was up from 60% last week to 83% yesterday.
