Just watched that draft show on Fox and Bomber was saying that Geelong went to the homes of the kids they thought they were a realistic chance of getting. I then read this on AFL.com

Geelong called me on Saturday and they’re going to come and see me tomorrow night, but that’s all at the moment. I spoke to most clubs at the draft camp, there were only two or three that I didn’t chat with.

I can't believe we are the only club to follow up with an interview. It would be unbelievable if we got him

However I know exactly what will happen. For the second year in a row we will miss a gun player by one win. Last year Salopek this year Tenace. It's just our luck :(

I wouldn't think Geelong would get him, but they might as Tenace isn't top 3, 4 yes, but 3 no and he might just slip through so we might as well be prepared. As for other teams not interviewing him, well he could be lying or it could be that the team doesn't bother interviewing him because they are in no doubt as to his abilities and worth.

There is a very good chance Geelong will get Tenace. His Grand Final performance (Very Poor) contrasted with Brock Mclean brilliant game and as a result Mcelan has passed him in most recruiters eyes. One of Tenace or Bradley will still be there at seven mark my words. The decison will be whether Geelong take Tenace or a marking player in Chaplin or Clarke. I think you just have to take the best player and that is clearly Tenace in my eyes.

Melbourne are keen on Tenace and its been suggested they will take him with their second pick after picking up Sylvia with their first.

Bulletproof I've heard Geelong are far more keen on Fergus Watts than Chaplin. I'd say the choice could be between him, Bradley and Clarke. Dunn is also in the picture. Geelong have also had a follow up interview with him.

Realistically Tenace is a very slim chance as well as Chaplin

Tenace would be great if he gets through. I really hope Geelong take a midfielder at 7 . I couldn't see us taking McClean though given bombers love of speed . Dunn , Clarke or Tenace at 7 and hope that one of Watts , Chaplin , Morrison , Spencer or McConnell get through to 22.

That's annoying as I see McClean as a pretty similar player to Chappy. You can't have too many players who always give a red hot go all the time.

Absolutely spot on Jim. We need and outside midfielder. Ling, Chappy, Bartel, Enright and Corey are all sort of inside players. They aren't super quick and aren't really super skilled. They're great players don't get me wrong but we don't really need anymore. That rules out McLean for mine

For pure outside midfielders we'd be looking at Ray, Tenace, Nash and Dyson. All have blistering pace and fantastic skills. if we got Tenace it would be a dream come true. For me he is the exact type of player we need to cap off our midfield.

A combination of either 'Bradley(7) and Dyson/Nash'(22) or 'Tenace/Ray and Morrison' would be fantastic

Morrison seems to be rated higher on here than in real life.

Football's a funny game.

I could have sworn Joel Corey had plenty of class and poise, and I for one would hardly consider him an 'inside' type.

As for the draftees, I'm pretty keen on Watts, Bradley and possibly Tenace.

Whilst I think we'll struggle to pick Bradley, given the Bulldogs distinct lack of talls (And we know how that feels) and their early picks; Tenace might slip through to us, though.

I'm a bit of a worrier, especially when it comes to Geelong picking the best available talent. And something has been bothering me since I read this thread. Tenace's Grand Final appearance. According to many... it was shocking. Does this put a question mark over his head, in relation to his attitude? Not enough mongrel or determination? I'm just not so sure if he's the right player to get now...Given our history with Grand Finals.

And I'm sure everybody now knows just how highly I rate Fergus Watts. I suppose the reason I rate him so highly is because well... I'm left standing there, in total awe, watching somebody who can actually MARK the ball in the forward 50. I mean, all this stuff about the best available talent is true, I agree with that, but you have to draw the line somewhere, IMO. Geelong's main priority should be to either try and pick up a quality CHB (in Chaplin, who can play both ends if need be) or a quality CHF (Perhaps Watts....).

I think history shows us, that Geelong are quite shrewd when it comes to their second, third and even fourth round picks. And the talent will be there, it's just a matter of finding it. I'd go for a KPP early on, and a quality midfielder in the 2nd or 3rd round. Solely based on our needs.

Agreed Shaitan in relation to needing a forward who can mark the ball, but from what i have seen Fergus Watts is a bit of one trick pony in that he can only mark and is pretty average in other facets of his game (not unlike Mcarthy). It seems Gelong rates Watts far higher than other other club if they take him at 7, while i do have faith in Wells and co i get the feeling we may overlook someone rated far higher.

We would be better served taking Tenace, who is a brilliant player on his day. His Grand Final performance was poor but they killed on the day and there was hardly a player on his team who did not struggle. He stood up in other high pressure games throughout the season.

With Freo and Eagles having so many picks in the 10-20 range dont be suprised if a highly rated Victorian or Tasmanian
slips to our second pick.

Here's hoping for Dyson (maybe I should be on the Ess board):o

Oh and for a Tasmanian I'd reluctantly take Morrison ;)

There is every chance that one of Watts or Morrison will slip to our pick in my opinion. It would be great to get Watts with such a late pick.

Morrison yes
Watts no way

What are the chances that Farren Ray's going to be available, I saw his video on afl.com.au and i'd love to take him.

The Dogs look a monty now but you never know. Anything could happen. Ray would be great for us but I could say that about the first 8 guys in this draft. It's very even.
