38,000. Thats a bit better than their last miserable effort at the Dome.

Great game, Collingwood should have a good hard look at North's efforts in running out the game. You won't see a better fourth quarter from a losing side this season. Better still, watch Carlton and learn how to win.

Can.t knock the kangaroos efforts. They ran out the game last week too even though they were outclassed.

Probably the Subi factor no team that has lost there this year has won the next week.

Great crowd, see how many rock up to Saints v Cats match.

27,240

Very dissapointing, but Geelong hardly ever bring much more to the stands.

I rang some of my Geelong friends to see if they were going, but was told it was too wet and cold.

I insisted the game was under cover. They still refused.

Go figure

no 28, 000 at the dome no break even apparently, unless you have speacial underwritten contracts with the afl.

thanks for the comment hotpie i know it would of come through gritted teeth,

Get the topic of this thread right. Kangaroos didn't draw 38,000. CARLTON DID, kangaroos couldn't draw a crowd that big in a home and away game even if their future as a club depended on it.

Well it was the least we can do after stealing your coach :) :)

You think? Have a check how many times Carlton have drawn more than 38,000 to their games in recent years.

Hint: not too many of those games make it without the help of Collingwood or Essendon supporters, both sides clearly having a superior support base.

It was the least we could do after you gave us Daniel Wells on a plate. What did the Saints have to give away for Goddard. :D:D:D

Who has managed to drag Carlton to the heady heights of 3rd bottom of the ladder. LOVL.

Were you at the game? Hardly any of you guys turned up.

I take it you were not allowed on level one where the majority of Kangaroos' fans sit...

so how many games have Carlton drawn 38000 to lately... when they have not relied on Bomber or Magpie fans to drag the crowd in??? and I do mean drag... answer that if you can...

Yes.

Plenty from what I saw and heard, Carltons turnout on Saturday night indicated to me just how far they have sunk behind Essendon and Collingwood, probably Richmond and Hawthorn as well as far as Vic supporter base goes.

crowds smowds I hope it was a home game so the ( and this is a registered trademark) cash-strapped Roos get some well deserved dosh. It would have been a fairy tale win after all the club has been thru (and a real traitors welcome) ...but it was close.

Carlton's crowds have been down because of how bad they are playing. Also Carltons average crowd is lower because they play at OO which only holds 30,000. When the Blues get back in form, the crowds come through the gate. There were more Carlton fans there on Saturday night, and it was a Kangaroos home game, and the Kangaroos were top 4, while Carlton was sitting 2nd last.

Carlton has got more than 30,000 members and it still plays out of OO. A move to the MCG or Colonial would see membership numbers reach even higher than this, and crowds would increase because of the superior drawing power of the MCG or Colonial. Though its Carltons fault for staying at OO when it should have moved out years ago.

If it makes you happy to think that Carlton got more numbers than North then I am very happy for you, but you would be wrong IMO. Says it all that Carlton can no longer compete with the big guns of the AFL, trying to win attendance battles with liddle old Norf is about as good as it gets.

Congrats, doesn't change the fact that Carlton have fallen way behind Essendon and Collingwood in pretty much every field.

I agree Carlton is behind Essendon and Collingwood in pretty much every field, and have been very poorly managed over the last 10 years. But you can't change what was done in the past. You can only try and manage the club better now and into the future. And its going to take a fair while and a lot of hard work to mend the damage that has been done.

Games against Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond and Melbourne last year all either just above or below that figure. Don't forget we were sitting all alone on the bottom all last year so there are reasons why our crowds were low (although they were still wayyy ahead of your crowds). In non wooden spoon years 2000 and 2001 we played 11 games that were not at OO (cant count them as it only holds 30K) and not against Ess or Coll in Melbourne, and we drew more than 38,000 in 8 of those games.

Moomba and Rooboy, you are absolutely delusional if you reckon you had more there an Saturday night. It wasn't even close. If you can bring yourself to watch the replay you can tell when you hear the response after goals were kicked. And Moomba, given our membership is currently higher than Essendon's (not to mention Hawthorn and Richmonds by about 10K) then I don't think we have fallen behind as far as you think.

Actually to be honest I was dissappointed with the number of Carlton supporters there. I reckon it was 3 to 2 possibly closer to 2 to 1 Norths way.

I am always disappointed with Carlton crowds because I think we should be getting 45,000 plus to all games against Victorian opposition, but until we move from Optus this is just a dream. But what are you saying Mark? There's no way they had 2 to 1. or even 3 to 2. If that was the case then there would have been more North supporters there than they have members, and that very very rarely happens at any game, and certainly did not on Saturday night.

This might sound a bit odd but I thought the crowd / cheering was reasonably even except

(1) When Goals were scored the Carlton seemed to have the bigger crowd

(2) In general play when there was something like a holding the ball decision and the crowd yells out "BALL!!" I thought the North crowd seemed to be bigger.

Dunno why.

Thought the game was reasonable though (despite obviously the crap result) and I hope we can get something similar against Adelaide in the Traitor's Cup Part II

(not that I am bitter ;) )
