You could do something good for someone, yet get spat in the face for it. What do you call that? Did you deserve it because you did something bad?

Well thats what Karma is Piston. You cannot make up your own meaning for the word to back up your statements. Its a religious concept from India not just "mother nature". Treating your dogs nicely and feeding them and them in return liking you is not karma. The same as if you treated them badly and they of course didnt like you is not karma either

I strongly agree with this concept of karma and strongly disagree with the OP's concept. IMO the "what goes around comes around" is a very reactive and passive way to live.
If you want revenge, either go out and take it for yourself or shrug it off and know it won't be worth it (usually the smart thing to do). If you want good things to happen to you, get out there and make them happen.
However I do believe in a similar concept that good things and bad things will run in cycles. Maybe it's a mindset thing but I tend to find times where all the things i'm looking forward to will go horribly wrong and things will gradually pick up to the stage where nothing can go wrong and good things happen out of nowhere only to fall back to the previous stage.

Of course you have to go out and make your own way, plan things, etc, you wont get a job not looking, you wont get good grades not studying, but i feel in the context of the world, the good people are doing better, take for example that homeless man with the golden voice, he messed up on drugs, did some bad things and then was sorry, changed his way, changed his attitude and stopped feeling sorry for himself, now look at him.

I don't know if I believe in karma or not. Some of my friends believe it in completely, others think it's bullshit. Regardless, it's a good way to live your life.

I don't. Bad things happen to good people and vice versa around me all the ****ing time. If you're a bad person, the chances are actually that more good things will happen to you because you're willing to step on other people to achieve them.
