Sook, I can agree with. The rest, get real. Most selfish? What about Nick Daffy for a start? I would argue that Gaspar is more selfish than KB with the way he held the club ransom a few years ago.

If you think KB's record is just to do with luck I think you should think again. Five premierships, captain of the club, best and fairest, favourite for the brownlow, norm smith medalist, games record holder.... You don't think talent had something to do with that?

If you think Richo is our favourite ever son I would have to guess that you are fairly young as Richmond has truck loads of better/more deserving 'favourite sons'. Lets see, Jack Dyer, Skinny Titus, Michael Roach, Royce Hart, Dale Weightman, Geoff Raines, Roy Wright, Tommy Hafey, Sheedy, Francis Bourke, and that is without thinking too hard about it.

Personally I think that Knights was a better player than Richo if you are talking about 'modern era'. You are right though, imagine what Richo could have been in a better team and environment. Instead we have an exciting, frustrating, erratic, petulant, inconsistent player. As much as we may love him, Richos' record is not in the same league as KB's nor probably a dozen other Richmond champions. FFS he hasn't even won a B&F or been captain!

If you want to brush off KB as being a sook, I can cope with that but to damn him with faint praise like you did and put it all down to luck is one of the bigger loads of **** I have seen on this site.

Richo may be a more charismatic or more loved figure than KB, but I find it hard to believe that he was a better player than a five time best and fairest, five time premiership player who captained the club.

As to Knights and Richo being the best players at Richmond of the modern era, I'd say they were the flashiest or most entertaining. Looking at facts however, there is only one answer to who the best has been....


As to KB, selfish, egotistical grumpy old man who will never get over himself because he was a legend. Its tragic that he won't come back, but that's life....

That`s not exactly true Tivva , the board had the opportunity to hire the best , most successful coach of the modern era , Allan Jeans .

True , KB did a great job with next to no resources. But really , those of us old enough to remember that period will tell you that that Hawthorn side were one of the greatest teams of all time and who would knock back the opportunity to hire the coach that led them through that period . Sure , it didn`t work out but hindsight ey.

KB, if he wasn`t so self-obsessed ,would realise that it was a tough call that had to be made and he should have gotten over it many years ago . The fact is he always will be regarded as a favourite son and it leave`s a hole in the club . That is why it is frustrating and dissappointing . It may sound a little over the top but i believe that the club will never be truelly unified until he buries the hatchet , he is our greatest living player .

From his time in coaching I think he was the only person upset that he was sacked.

I remember him being booed off the ground in a game against Fitzroy. It was similar to the Adelaide game this year for Spud without the spitting.
