jst on that final ladder, this week coming up Lanky can actually be in the 5 after they play murch, abut percentage is not in thier favour at only 104, if they cn build that this week, and VT beat Avenel who knows what will happen! jst on VT WELL DONE LANKY! must have been a boilover there, Lanky jst must have wanted it a bit more, and VT jst going thru the motions thinking that it was jst another game the should win. obviosuly not. Nick Varcoe and Oxxy starred as Lanky kept their finals hopes alive.

Nick Varcoe was unstoppable for lanky. He copped heaps of hits and bumps behind play and still kept on getting up and killed VT. Then he faced up to play in the two's who were short considering he could hardly walk after the thirds game. Well Done Nick!!!

He is having a great end to the season and might make a late go at the league medal.

hey boys sorry havent been home to get to the computer before now, and the other usuals from vt corks, tonysgone, jug-a-nuaght and bonge69 are all away on camp this week.
well our games been summed up pretty well already, too cocky thought it was going to be a walk in the park but lanky came out hard right from the opening bounce with oxxy having around 13-14 touches our team manager counted so well done to him really got the wombats going, tried tagging oxxy but juust killed us all day along with nick varcoe (BOG) just dominated all over the ground, havent seen a tall man cover so much ground before kicking goals and stopping them!
all day lanky just wanted the ball more than us, they were very committed to playing footy and not carryiong on like we were unfortunatly.
lanky played a great overall team game compared to us, so good luck for the rest of the season oxxy.

this really puts vt in contention of dropping out of the top 3 and getting the second chance with avenal this week should find out where vt will finish.
lanky and avenal battle it out for 5th spot, could someone please post lankys n avenals run home... cheers

Dont get me wrong mate but the reason people are talking about lanky v Violet Town is because it was basically a mini final for Lanky to keep their finals hopes alive and now V.T are only half a game from dropping down to fourth. So all in all it was a crucial match for both sides. Tally have improved since last year by getting some good players and on the weekend they showed they can play good footy if they stick to the task and dont get caught up in going the opposition team. Well done Tally boys and now this leaves Undera's finals hopes fading away game by game having to play Ardy and Stanhope in the next fortnight.

Duncan Lowis easily the best backmen in the league,by far, from avenel plays full back for assumption firsts

if we are talkin full backs, its hard to go past john taylor from stanny, the team has the smallest points against them, he kept 2 of the leading goal kickers to not many, in sam scott and bc, so he is quite a backman

Matt Moore from yea has 2 be up there, he hasnt had a bag kicked on him all year, i think he kept BC to 2-3. He's only a lil fella but is hardly beaten in a 1 on 1 contest.

John Taylor's not a bad backmen, gets the job done most of the time with not a bad grab on him too. Will Shellie from Lancaster has got a great set of hands and holds lanky's backline together. also avenels half back line are a pretty good unit, run the ball well out of the defence and is the starting point for a lot of their goals. alot of people underestimate a good half back flanker who can run and break a line.

Yea vs Girgarre - Yea have a desent team in and will cause the upset, 40 pts
Rushworth vs Nagambie - Nagambie will play for their season and get the 4 points, 55 pts

Ardmona vs Undera - Ardy too good, 24 pts
Avenel vs Tiolet Town - Good game, Avenel to break away in the last half, 30 pts

Avenel 15.10 (100) vViolet Town 7.8 (50)

Avenel had an 8 goal 1st quater to put the towners on the back foot, Vt fought back throughout the 2nd and 3rd term narrowing the gap, but Avenel kept strong and ran home 50 point winners.
the win was soured however as Duncan Lowis was taken 2 hospital with a horrific wrist injury.

Yea vs Girgarre

The game took a while to really switch on before Gig started to play well and went in to half time with a 4-5 goal lead. The Tigers had a brilliant 3rd qtr and really hit their straps and pegged the margin back to 8 points at 3 qtr time. The last qtr was very close and it came down to Yea kicking 2 goals in the final 2 mins to get ahead by 1 point (on the scoreboard), Daniel Evans kicked our final goal seconds before the siren sounded and we all went crazy celebrating because we thought we had won by a point. After we had all shakin hands and what not, the goal umpires then realised that the scoreboard was wrong and Gig had won by a point. Was heartbraking for us but it was a very good game. Cam Gahan had heaps of the pill off the wing and Sean Nicholas also played well, as did the CHF (dont know his name).

Avenal do have a good chance of winning the grand final, but only because they cheat( to some degree)

they play with a middle class side all year, and when it comes to finals they stack there side with assumption and bushys players.

id hate to play a whole year for avenal and get sidelined for some boys that havent been playing all year.

milky,who are their bushys players? also i don't agree that it isn't fair, it is there HOME club and there off doing there best to better them self while there is still chances for them, im sure that you would welcome players back from the seniors to play finals in the thirds milky?
