Abit bored of the cricket so thought i start this thread....

looking at the players on our list atm, apart from some of the recently drafted, the players that probably doesnt have the body for week to week football at senior level are Keeffe and Sinclair. Keeffe is 94kg at 204 cms and Sinclair 181cm at 71kgs. just wondering how these two are going pre-season and whether they have been pumping the weights?

as i said, im depressed with the cricket i might watch the GF reply to cheer me up.

i dont think either would be a realistic chance of playing 2011 anyway, chances are they will have another year in the VFL to put on muscle and develop their game further

Considering this is now Keefe's third preseason, I'd expect some massive improvements in his body shape. Ben Reid failed to put on any weight at all for a few years and then suddenly found some bulk after his third or fourth preseason.

As a midfielder and as a second year player I would not expect Sinclair to be piling on the muscle as quickly. Hopefully he's working more on his areobic capacity.

Sinclair has all the skill and a top footy brain, as he showed in his under 18 year.

Just don't expect him to do anything next year, he is the definition of a project player. He has a decent engine which can improve and obviously needs to bulk up. However he treads a fine line as he doesn't want to lose any of his blistering speed.

Give him this year to continue to develop and blood him in 2012.

If I recall correctly Sinclair played 2 NAB cup games last year and went OK, so yeah I reckon if all goes as it should he will get a chance this year.

The club said he played so well he almost got a Game in RD 1 before he got Injured

These two realistically. Pretty sure most players spend their first couple of pre-season working more on their fitness base and then build into weights.

nah.
mates of mine that have been drafted get placed straight on the supplements and get smashed in the gym.
If anything they work harder in the gym, weights, core etc than they do out on the track. They'll do a lot less running than the established guys.

Keefe is already way bigger than when he first came to the club a couple of years back.

He was uber skinny!

He's putting on the weight and size bit by bit, which is how it should be done.

by my calculations theres only 6 players on the senior list that are not body ready for the AFL next year, including these two....

another interesting stat, we only have 5 players on our list thats over 27 years of age.

Sinclair will play a game this year. Hold me to it.

As long as he doesn't get injured he will definitely make his debut in 2011

Lachie Keefe impressed me in the 2's last year as a key defender - with another pre-season under his belt, no reason why he couldn't play senior footy in 2011.

Would expect he'd be more than 94kg by round 1.

Keefe will probably need an injury to Leigh Brown or another Key Position Defender to really push through this year. But long term he is shaping up ok.

Sinclair may be the one who sneaks in for a game this year if we get a few wins on the board and a few players get rotated. This is how Jarryd Blair got into the side this year. Ball was rested and Davis was struggling and he took his chance. I think Sinclair could be the player this year.

It's just a matter of him finding form at the right time. If he hits form too early he will not get a shot because of the depth in the list....if he loses form when a few get injuries then he'll miss his chance. It will be a case of sensing an opportunity and grabbing onto it.
