Just a few observations after reading all the showdown threads on the afl/afc/pafc boards.

- While I was quite vocal at the time and I think I am entitled to be because emotion watching a game is a good thing no matter which emotion it is, Burgoyne was well within the law. However, that is sniping at its very best/worst - he used whoever it was in front of him (can't remember at this stage) to hide until he was near enough to collect Bassett. Nathan's always been a favourite of mine, needless to say I'm not happy.

- On TV they said Tredrea won the medal, but I'm happy Johncock won it - James should have got it however. It should be named the Francou Medal too, fuck off the West End stuff!

- Again, everybody - not just some crows supporters - are being Carey-centric. The other big-name recruit did what we are paying him for if nobody noticed, so Carey's form did not worry me. Really we do over-rate some of the players who have been in the game forever, they can and do get out-played by the stars of today - trouble is nobody credits the latter. All-Australian accolade aside

- I'm amused by how much joy the Power Rangers are squeezing from this when it's obvious they're inventing dumb things to celebrate, it started with the 'yes.....you are the favourites again, we are the underdogs again' - we are like Luke Darcy last year, not the built up wonder everybody thinks we are - we still have a lot of improvement to do and the loss last night doesn't change that.
