It may be alright for a midfielder or onballer to get low to win 50/50 balls in play but it is unforgiveable and catastrophic for a team when backmen go to ground for no apparent reason.

Alex Rance, this half baked falling to the ground and then reaching out for the opposition has to stop. This lazy man's attempt at stopping an opponent is spreading like wildfire through the backline like a cancer. They are all doing it now. If you're tired come off. When a foward line opposition player only has to stand his ground to win the ball with a stupid RFC Backman lying prone on the ground or flat in the air, is not acceptable from Senior Players.

Disgusted with this new lazy, craze of stretching full out when you only have to keep your feet.
That's a simple goal for ANY opposition. It's not gallant. It's pathetic!

Who do they think they are fooling? That's not an effort. That's trying to tell everyone else that that's an effort. It's not.

Yep Rance was disgusting today. Worst game for 2 years I reckon. Under the high ball he just looks lost.

Nahas is another who losses his footing too often

Morris and Rance were the two I noticed who spent an enormous amount of time on the ground today, while their opponents kept their feet.

There's no magic gameplan or experience required to do this, it's basic junior level stuff: Do not go to ground unnecessarrily.

I no rance lost his feet on a couple of occasions today where he shouldn't have/didnt need to go to ground. But you have to realise that in marking contest that his being pushed to the ground and can't do anything about it.

Can't have that as an excuse. Sorry. And when the ball is bobbling towards him and his opponent? What's the excuse then?

Couldn't agree more. Yes, the conditions were slippery but the Crows players kept their footing way more than us.

Dea was terrible, Rance was terrible and although I love Morris' attack on the footy, he went to ground far too often today.

Geez, Porplyzia hasn't played a good game since 2003 but today our backline made him look like a Coleman medalist.

It happens to defenders all the time, only glass and scarlett don't go to ground but thats because of their amazing reading of the play.

I've said all day, Morris over-commits to the contest. Inability to keep our feet has been a problem for some time. Some are better than others at it but only Cotchin, Martin & Deledio really seem to be able to do nearly everytime.

That is actually one of the most astute posts I have ever read. I would never have thought that about Morris, but now that you bring it up, he does actually over commit. I love him, and this is easily workable for him to improve on, but it is definitely and area he needs to be smarter about.

yeah harm his first cupla games he did but i thought he got better as the season went on but today he regressed and when you have 2(dea) who keep on doing it and more often than not at the same friggen time its not good enough.he also has the knack of trying to smash the pack but ends up taking out our players.

He could avoid getting pushed to the ground if he stops nesting his head on Walker's gut.

AFL players go to ground more than any other footballers I watch, u16's at the local ground round the corner from me fall over less. Shit's me to tears watching our guys though, they go to ground for no reason at all and Hardwick should drag them for it at times.

More a footwear problem than anything IMO, which makes it even more inexcusable really.

I was thinking that (well hoping anyway) but surely they wouldnt get the footware that wrong.
The players simply need to stop going to ground so often and show some composure imo.

My thoughts exactly, its more comfortable wearing molded soles, hark back to the Darwin game.

Nahas's technique is to get low. If he does go down, he's just gotta make sure the ball stays in his arms, or within "control", so the opposition can't get it away.
