Keeper help - please

Thanks.

It was an auction draft and, after blowing a lot of money on early picks, I went all young and now am very worried about my team. Can anyone offer any advice (h2h, 9 cat, 10 teams, 8 keepers):

PG: J.Wall
SG: P.George
G: D.Illard
SF: M.Kidd-Gilchrist
PF: Josh Smith
F: J.J.Hickson
C: K.Love
C: G.Davis
Util: T.Thompson
Util: D.Waiters
Bench:
L.Williams
N.Valanciunas
K.Walker

I'm thInking of just disregarding this year and looking to build towards 2-3 years from now. Josh Smith seems the obvious player to trade. Who's a big to target? Anyone else I should look to move?

Thanks

You've got a super young team for a 10 team league.

I wouldn't trade Smith in your situation but I'd understand why you might anyway. You've got heaps of potential but I'm guessing you won't contend this year so I wouldn't trade for a strategy just yet and I'd see how your rookies pan out.

Both trades are ok value-wise but in a 10 team league depth is less of an issue so a 2 for 1 where you give the best guy isn't always a good idea. I'd try some two for ones the other way with you giving 2 and seeing if you can get a tighter bunch of keepers.

Is there anyone in your league who would take some of your rookies for some more experienced guys. I'd maybe trade one or two out and see if you can get some more keeper quality. No one in your team is old though.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, quite a lot of the other teams are looking for a win this year or next so probably don't value the rookies too highly - hence a lot dropped to me and why I'd be a chance to get some ok value for Smith.

I'm leaning towards Monroe - would Mayo perhaps be a better target than Rubio (bearing in mind I'm going young)?

If I'm looking to build a keeper base it would make my 8:

Wall/ Illard
George/ Mayo
MKG
Love/ Monroe

Then maybe Waiters, Thompson or Kemba.

Thanks.

I'd go Rubio. Reports have been pretty good so far with his knee and a good PG is more valuable than a good SG. I'd also see if you can get Derrick Rose from someone. He's going to miss almost all the season, imo so if people are contending then he's a ball and chain.

Smith is considered a top 10 pick in mocks this year so I'd at least want to get Monroe and Rubio for him (thats the deal out of the two that I would take as well).

btw, this obviously just my 2 cents and might be complete garbage

I'd agree with almost all Raff has to say there Rhino.

I wouldn't be trading Smith though. You do realise he is only 26 don't you with a bigger role to play in the offense now that JJ has moved on.

I wouldn't make any moves for atleast the first month until you see how your team is travelling. If you do move Smith for Monroe you'd be pretty much assured of losing the BLKS cat each week.

Thanks Billy - but who else do I have to get my blks? Seems to make more sense to me to target big men with a decent FT%, more rbs and punt blks. Maybe LMA straight up would work better?

And who do you guys think will be a better keeper - Waiters or Beal? Beal is available.

Yeah outside of Smith and Thompson, who shows some shot blocking promise, you don't have much but anytime you have Smith you can always win that cat. I think with Thompson and the odd block from Hickson, George, Gilchrist, Wall an others you'd win the cat sometimes.

I would not trade Smith for Aldridge, Smith has it over him everywhere outside of FT% and TO's as i see Smith increasing his PTS this season. Aldridge is also a year older.

In relation to Waiters and Beal i would definitely go with Beal. I think Beal will be better in the short and long term.

Thanks Billy, appreciate it.

Not sure how I'll cope with this long term plan, I'm the most impatient manager out there!

Pretty much what I said too

Guys, what about Josh Smith and Lou Will FOR Marc Gasol and Tyreke Evans?

I realise Smith and Gasaol are around the same age, but Tyreke would give me a lot of upside on Lou Will as a keeper. Both of their FT% are also better.

I would keep Smoove and Lou. Josh is the best player in the trade and a top 10 talent so i wouldn't be giving him up.

The only area i see you benefitting is in the FG% cat and maybe rebounds. I am not sure where your getting info re Tyreke (78%) being a better FT% than Lou as Lou (81%) is superior with similiar attempts.

If you make this trade i see you taking on a lot of TO's, losing PTS and 3's.

I would stick with Lou Williams also atleast for the first month as he'll be Atlanta's starting SG and he may just surprise a few with his output. He was high on my wishlist in the KMC league and i was very happy to get him. Tyreke is no longer Sacramento's marquee player and i don't see him improving on last years stats.

I can't help but think your trading just because you want to make a trade, as we all do!

I wouldn't mind seeing you trade for Anthony Davis. He's going to be a beast in real and fantasy bball. Remember how high Camby was ranked, Davis has the potential to have a more well rounded line than him, or at least equal. In a keeper league he is extremely valuable, so I would see what his owner is willing to trade him for.

Thanks.

What about:

1. Smith FOR Davis and Faired/ Illaysova?
2. Smith and Lou Will FOR Davis and Gallinari or Thornton?

First Raff, thanks heaps for finishing my draft. Still got very limited net access but I just got a big offer in this league.

Offer is Westbrook for Love.

On one hand the offer is very tempting because Westbrook is younger and probably a better long term prospect, but on the other hand quality big men are hard to come across and I already have some very promising young PGs.

Thoughts?

I was thinking of ofeering a 2 for 2 to bring in a big but the other manager only has Noah, Kaman, Anderson and ZBo.

Hey guys

I'm sitting last in this league at the moment. Injuries haven't helped but my balance is all out. Of course it's a keeper and I have a young team, so I'm not overly concerned. But my balance does seem out and would appreciate any trade suggestions. Here's my team now:

Lillard, Wall, Kemba, I.Thomas
Lou Will, Thornton
George, MKG
J Smoove, Ilyasova, Sullinger
Love, Hickson

Main issue off the bat is I only have 2 Cs, despite needing to start 2.

Thanks.
