Also I have M.Murphy and Salopek in the mids. At the start of the season they were borderline for an upgrade but both seem to be pulling great scores week in week out. Keepers?

I guess it kinda depends on the amounts of trades u got left, atm i aint swimming in them so i guess unless u have >15 trades, they shuld be keepers. Murph/Salopek/Deledio/Didak have all been very good and unless a massive drop in form, they shuld be keepers :thumbsu:

Stevens - Scott? Not a keeper, Nick is a keeper though.
Porplyzia - Good 7th forward, keeper
Symes - Same as above
Barlow - Definitely not a keeper
Newman - Keeper but just because i have him :p
Palmer - Not a keeper, look to upgrade when he reaches his peak
Masten - Same as above
Simmonds - Keeper, 2nd or 3rd best ruck
Didak - Keeper atm
Bradshaw - Not a keeper imo, relies too much on goals
Deledio - Keeper
Rioli - Same as Palmer

Pretty much spot on IMO, but I don't think the Rioli call is clear cut.

I see Rioli this year as being very similar to Alwyn Davey last year. Many will use him as a pure cash cow and upgrade him to a premium eventually, but I don't see why he can't continue the way he is and become a good 7th forward, just as Davey was last year for many teams.

Having said that, I'll probably trade him when the time is right.

Il try answering my own question

Stevens n/s - scott no, nick yes
Porplyzia - 7th foward
Symes - 7th Back
Barlow - No
Newman - Yes depending on form
Palmer - Trade when peeked (4-5 weeks)
Masten - Ditto but a week after palmer
Simmonds - Yes
Didak - If he continues form then yes
Bradshaw - 50/50, arguement that he heavily relies on goals
Deledio - Yes at this stage
Rioli - Same Palmer
Kreuzer - Lack of ruckmen means he would be a keeper as 3rd/4th ruck
Brett Burton - Same porp
Graham Johncock - Yes
Lindsay Gilbee - Yes

Plz say if u disagree

IMO Rioli is definetly not a keeper

he plays as a small forward that pushes up the ground....and small forwards do not get that much of the ball

also..now that he has gotten off to a flyer defenders will begion to notice him and play more of a defensive role on him...not like McMahon did on the weekend

so yes a good cash cow but IMO upgrade him to a keeper when peeked

My thoughts on the following. 5 means fifth best, 6 means sixth best, and so on. 1-3 are your guns, 4-5 definite keepers, 6 borderline and 7 upgrade.

Stevens (Nick I'm presuming) - 5
Didak - 3 or 4 - too expensive to trade in
Bradshaw - 7 (see Didak; inconsistent) as a forward, 5-6 as a back
Deledio - 5
Porplyzia - 5 or 6
Symes - 6
Barlow - trade
Newman - keep
Palmer - hold for now - trump card
Masten - trade at some point
Simmonds - if you trade, do it very late season after ridding Kreuzer
Rioli - 7 or 8 (depends on forward structure really)
Kreuzer - trade late
Brett Burton - 5 or 6
Graham Johncock - 5 or 6
Lindsay Gilbee - keep

Note that you don't want, for example, three '5 or 6' type of players in your backline after mid-season.

What is the best tactic for the 1st reserve in each position? Do you have someone that is a decent scorer that will play most weeks (eg Rioli, Palmer) with the 2nd reserve position being used as the cash cow? Or do you use both as cash cows with the capability of upgrade/downgrade and risk playing 1 short on occasion?

Houli? (As a 6th midfielder?)
Jonathon Brown? (WTF, Bordering on not a keeper if he keeps this up)

Just thought of ... Ellis?

Houli has peaked or close to peaking this week, im trading him out for kornes, you would think brown is a keeper considering the $ u used on him, ellis is in the same boat as barlow, i would say not a keeper

Houli, Ellis -- trade out, though no huge rush
As for ressies, I like cash cows both positions. Generally one emergency will be enough anyway--any long-term injuries are trade outs and it's rare to have two-short term injuries at once (this week's backline notwithstanding).

Though if you have someone like Tippett who scores 50 every week you might just keep him all year as your designated emergency while Rioli is the cash cow to be eventually traded down to a rookie.

Il try answering my own question

Stevens n/s - Yes for Nick.
Porplyzia - 7th forward, I'm keeping him.
Symes - IF he keeps up form, of course. (6th-7th back)
Barlow - Def not.
Newman - Selected in my team as a keeper, needs to improve.
Palmer - Nope.
Masten - Nope.
Simmonds - Toughie. For now yes. If he struggles and Cloke keeps up his super consistency then maybe not. Least of most peoples worries though.
Didak - Yeh i guess.
Bradshaw - dont see why not.
Deledio - Yes at this stage
Rioli - Might be my only rookie i'm keeping in 22 all year.
Kreuzer -if your rucks are dominating and he gets a high enough price i'll trade him out.
Brett Burton - meh
Graham Johncock - yes, lack of good backs.
Lindsay Gilbee - Shoodnt have been picked for DT ;)

My thoughts in bold.

i want to throw a few other players in to be critiqued on whether they're keepers or non keepers as well guys.

Mattner, birchall, Kennelly, n. jones, akermanis,

most of these players have been playing well (aker, mattner, birchall) but a few others have injury problems or slow starts to the season (kennelly and jones)

thoughts on whether they're keepers?
