Kel moore may be finished guys...

Heard a rumour that when they fixed his bad hip, they found the other one was even worse. Apparently its degenerative and he is doubting a return. This is from a very credible source aswell :(

Placed this in the "rumour file" .. but i dont reckon it takes a Rhodes Scholar to work out that this is pretty close to the truth .

Ended a few careers this condition .

Wait for the club to confirm but i'll leave it open

The fact that he has a degenerative condition is not a rumour, it's fact. He said it himself on a video that I think was on the club website several months ago....

He really should retire. He said he's going to have to get hip replacements when he's older, just can't see him getting well enough to return to playing footy.

Plus in all honesty, Grimes is ahead of him as that 3rd tall defender.

Common sense needs to prevail so we can open up a spot on the list ... as with Mark Coghlan , futile to persist

:thumbsu:I stated as such on here a day or two after the members' cocktail night that both hips were in bad shape and he was likely done.
I haven't heard anything to the contrary!

Have heard the same thing.

Would be a little dissapointing, but not suprising. To be honest I can't see him getting back to being in our best 22 given his injuries. With Rance at FB and Astbury/Post playing CHB Moore was really playing for that 3rd tall role. I'd much much rather have Grimes there.

I think even if he gets back to fitness he'l be a depth player. A fairly decent depth player but depth none the less. It's dissapointing but not disastrous.

it annoys me when people bag rance. this year we lost grimes, moore, newman and batchelor from our backline. Guys like Mitch Farmer were filling these roles. The guy is 21 and he is holding down a backline. No other full back in the comp could do that at 21, except fletch, but none of us were alive for that :D

Terrible news. Was developing into a handy player and still reasonably young. Was missed this year.

Reckon Mcguane will keep his spot on the list if this is the case. Would say 2 tall defenders will be gone and seems like Moore and Gourdis are the ones. Handy depth

You may be right MT, this may save one of McGuane or Thursfields career. It's also because of Kel's issues, i believe there is substance to us being interested in the defender from North. Like for like if you know what i mean.

Very sad.

Despite the form of Rance, he is still (or was) our best defender. Very talented player.

In an article half way through the year he said he would need hip replacements at some point and was aiming to get another year or two out of his body but I guess he couldn't.

Reckon Mcguane and Thursfield can both be kept. I like both players and they'd make pretty good depth with Rance, Post and Grimes being our 3 talls in defence most weeks. Astbury would be another option too. If 1 or 2 went down it wouldn't be too bad to bring in Mcguane and Thursfield occasionally.

I'm wondering if Griffiths may swing to CHB next year, and Astbury as the third tall forward? I have a vibe that one of our existing players will be used in an unconventional way to us next season.

it wouldnt surprise me if we traded them. they are solid defenders and other clubs wouldnt mind having either of them as a 2nd tall defender.

Very sad news

Kel Moore has been a warrior during some shocking games. Was really hitting his straps as well before injuries, had put on some size and was looking like that huge body that we needed.

Hope he can pull through, is a very important player when up and running
