What's the deal with kelvin is he still going to play on next year or is he retiring because of the hip problems?, what's happening anyone know?

If he was going to retire, i think he would of done it by now and then we would've kept Thursfield. So looks like hes staying on this year

It's an interesting one. Just about everyone has moved on as far as "best 22s" are concerned. He's the forgotten man. When fit though, he's easily in our best side and by far our most experienced defensive minded player.

I personally think he's our best defender and I'd love to have him fully fit and playing once again but I'm also a realist if his hips are really that bad perhaps he should give it away, he'll be holding back a kid from developing if the injury is chronic.

from what ive heard about his hip conditions and what not, something like a combined 9 operations on both hips then he quite possibly wont be up and about for AFL footy for much longer.

degenerative conditions are the scourge of body joints

what suprises me is that he is still on the list he has got only a slim hope of recapturing any degree of form considering what his body has gone through, 9 ops, ffs like being in a car accident. i would have thought we would have released him and kept thursty but what would I know:confused:

My understanding is that he had a scope on his hip around 6-7 weeks ago as a last hope ditch effort !
Worst thing is my info indicated that another on our list has a hip which is likely to last less than Kelvins !
It's unlikely, but could you inform us to who this player is?

Or at least wether he is best 22, key positon or rookie player?

Why bother posting that when you won't inform us who it is?

To allude users to that fact that although Kelvins situation may be dramatic it's not uncommon and certainly isn't the worst hand the club could be dealt ?

Sorry PTF ............... Thats not good enough !!

If your going to say something & be considered serious, You have to reveal the player but not the source

Rumor was that Conca had hip problems similar to that of Moore, although, many players these days go in for a hip clean out at a young age, from memory, Cotchin Riewoldt and a few others went in for a hip clean out, so I doubt its anything to be alarmed about.

And as to PTF, buddy, if you're going to post about rumors or something that you have heard from your 'sources' then at least give us a name, it's pretty stupid to be posting such things as a Mod, I mean, you did also say that you had a reliable source during trade week that we would be going after Nicholls etc (I think that was you anyway?) and that showed itself to be false, so I doubt many people should be worrying about what your 'sources' are telling you for the moment.

I didn't state Nicholls and what I stated wasn't proven to be false . People can choose whether they believe me or not it's their choice , it's not going to concern me !:) Been around here long enough to realize by people stating what they've heard others take it as gospel , spin it around a dozen times , and then when the spun version of events don't occur the person providing the inititial info was wrong !:o

PTF, i'll go the other way, i won't ask for player or source, but rather, if there's a worse hip on the list than Kel's, why are we hanging onto the player. I understand duty of care, but the only thing that makes me think is either very young age (which can be monitored), or two years or so left on a contract, and we are avoiding payout, or trying to get our monies worth. Can i get a resonse on any of that?

Captain my understanding is , and upon reflection I wrongly stated explained it which I apologise , is that Moore's hip wasn't diagnosed till it was a little to late and his hip had degenerated quite a bit . As a result hip type injuries are explored a little more , and we have had player(s) who have had scopes on there hips and it's speculated their hips had more damage than Kelvins at a similar age , however theirs have been diagnosed and assumably corrected ?
I have seen the vid clip where the club has said they where some of the ops where minor ops and where very successful , which I was told to be true and have any reason to doubt otherwise ?
Fwiw, I have heard that Kruezer has had similar problems and may have degenerated further than our players ?
Hope this clears it up and I am sorry for the way I worded it initially !:thumbsu:
I'm sore

Yeah that's clear

Thread successfully hi-jacked.

Hoping Kel has an incident free pre-season, and can get back in to the top 22 at some point this year. I think he should be played at Coburg for a solid block of games beforehand. Has missed a lot of footy, and will take time to pick up the pace again. Will also get a good gauge of how the body is standing up. I think he's pretty respected around the place.

You actually insinuated that there is another player with a very bad hip condition & didnt mention who the player is (i cant understand why ?)

Its not as if there is a problem with naming the player & also will you now mention who the ruckman we were trying to get through the trade period ?

Yeah but PTF unless you are employed by the club or a relation of the player then I don't see any good reason why you couldn't name them?

The suggestion was both Reiwoldts and Cotchin's most likely would have been worst than Moore's, if left as long untreated ?
