Ken is one injury away from getting a game - if any of Bock, Bassett, Stevens, Perrie or Rutten go down and I'd imagine McGregor would get the call up.

He would have been pumped with Stevens' last couple of games too.

I think its definately time to bring Kenny back in. We are screaming out for a stay at home full forward that can take a pack mark.

I dont necessarily think it should be at Perries expense though. For all of Perries falts, I reckon he really does some damage between half forward and half back. Pez needs to run at the ball to mark it. He is a very poor mark when he has to stand under the ball. His hands are not strong enough to take pack marks.

Perrie leads and marks well in this part of the ground, his work at full forward for the last couple of weeks has been pretty ordinary in my opinion. Gotta say he didnt get embrassed as a ruckman either.;)

For me Kenny is our best option at full forward.

Please dont ask me who I'd drop to bring him in, I dont think people would like my answer this week.;)

If the crows traded Ken McGregor at the end of the year what would he worth. The team that may be interested in him would be the Western Bulldogs as they have a real lack of height especially in defence. Would the crows get a second round draft pick or could the crows get more for him. Im not saying i want to trade Kenny but im just interested to know what the crows could get for him.

Although i see Kenny now as a back up to Perrie,Bock,Stevens if one gets injured i would be loath to trade him for a 2nd round pick (i'm not saying that he is worth more than a 2nd rounder on the trade market but rather that to Adelaide its better to have him in the squad as a dependable backup than what we would pick up with a 2nd rounder)

Of course, if Kenny wanted to move on for his own sake or if Kenny were to be part of a package to pick up Pav or Cooney or similar, then yes a 2nd rounder would be around the value.

Its bad luck for Kenny that the game has changed because in the old days he would be one of the stars of the competition with his style of play. Unfortunately, now Perrie, Bock,Stevens > Kenny.

I am not convinced Bock is a natural forward & think the team would be better off playing him at CHB (& is a better player than Stevens).

Perrie is better of playing at CHF as the leading type, rather than deep in the forward line.

That means we need a marking forward in the goal square (so Welsh, Roo, etc are getting lesser opponents). IMO, Kenny is well suited this role.

I am also not convinced Bock will be a consistently good forward, and is better starting at CHB, and being thrown up forward if form/match-ups allow.

Agree re Perrie.

IF the tall forward line role was a 'stand in the square all day and get the ball bombed on your head for a contested mark' type forward i would select Kenny. However, it seems our forward structure requires more flexibility and rotations than that in order to spread the load further up-field. It is here where i believe time has passed Kenny by (unless he is miraculously fitter and faster and more mobile than before...the $64 question). Stevens, while below par for a couple of weeks, is no hack in an aerial contest (despite some being preoccupied by his skinny appearance), is a straighter goalkicker, can play a mobile additional tall across HF, and is our most recent CHB who has displayed great form...therefore he can perform more roles better IMO.

so this is going to come out crappy but bock - compared to one of the better CHF in the comp

9 2007 Games 9
9.8 Kicks Per Game 9.7
3 Handballs Per Game 4
12.8 Disposals Per Game 13.7
6.2 Marks Per Game 8
1.6 Goals Per Game 2.3
1.3 Behinds Per Game 1.4
1.4 Tackles Per Game 1.1
0 Hitouts Per Game 0
0.7 Frees For Per Game 1.1
1.1 Frees Against Per Game 1.8

I personally don't think he is doing to badly as a forward

To answer the original question raised in this thread. Who knows perhaps a decent second round selection.

Personally I hope we don't have to trade/delist him. Last years Kenny was carrying injuries, in a form slump and nothing like the player he was. I just hope that he can recapture the form he was showing when J Brown was supposed to have been quoted as saying that Kenny had been his toughest opponent. Although I think that might have been before Truck came onto the scene :)

Look that theory has been propogated on this board as an excuse ....it was used the year before .....fact is we do not know what affected his form in 06

Be carefull of one comment over one game ....under a different coach and different gameplan.

Kenny was great under Ayres gameplan and has suffered under the required attacking, multi positional demands of Neil Craig

I just think Bock is more attacking at CHB than as a forward & great value to set up our forward plays.

Kenny was clearly restricted by injury last year. He lost all his power through his legs, which wiped out one of his biggest strengths - being strong in a marking contest. If didn't have OP, then I'm a poor judge.

IMO, Kenny does give us flexibility, as he gives us that 2nd big unit who can play in any KP ... though under Craig's game plan, he is best suited to FF/CHF.

Craig also stated on Monday night that he is in his preferred ideal forward line if all were available. The op is not a rumour but has been confirmed by the club although they never came out and said what it actually was, just that he was playing under considerable stress for the team.

Hadn't heard that the OP was confirmed by the club, though blind Freddy or blind Kane could tell, even if blind Wayne couldn't. ;)

Urgh! Dig out any excuse for Perrie but we try and mitigate any reasons why Kenny might have been struggling, what is it with this board?

maybe you're just wrong about perrie?
Mate, I like Perrie, would have him in our best 22 as I think he plays a pretty important role in the team. I just think that (probably due to the exaggurated critiscism that he comes under) he seems to recieve exaggurated praise and defence from people on here, whereas Kenny who has been a standout player in the past seems to get the opposite, Perries alright but we've got better players than him who get bagged a fair bit (not just Ken).
