I think I prefer him when he doesn't talk ...

Mind you, his spray at Sheedy before the match was a classic.

I'm not sure whether the comments were necessary or not, but Kennett does play a very important role for the club.

Unlike most clubs - where its left up to the coach to publicly promote the club, Kennett takes over that role and leaves Clarko to concentrate on football.

If my man Jeff could learn to be a spruiker for the club to build a crowd before each game he would become an assett.
He needs to harness the hate that people have for him and use it for the good of Hawthorn.
It involves timing and restraint and measured judgement.
A few things my man desperately lacks.

I suggest he watches a few wrestling videos

Twas unneccesary and I'm known for being anti-kennett but hs logic did not stack up.

Waverley training base aside (and lets not forget the fed govt is providing the same thing for the bulldogs) Brayshaws question was legitimate - the hawks with 4 games in tassie is one more than the roos with 3 in qld. how are we not half pregant ?

Jeff said hawks had 30,000 members (not quite yet Jeff) but how many of them are from tassie ? 3-4000 I think. take those away and we are not that far in front of the roos at 25,000.

He should just steer clear of that. IF the roos were to relocate (and I think they would be nmad to) they should legitimately ask for support (guarantees, subsidies, FTA slots, recruitment ) which would hurt other clubs (including hawthorn) far worse than any 'improvement' of the situation in melbourne.

I understand we have a disagreement over this, but our success will be in the pudding. To date, you've got to say that the decision has had a great degree of success...

We had 2,500 Tassie members (up from 2,000 last year) when we played Geelong, I'm going to go out of limb and say we'll get our 30,000 members this season ;)

Kangaroos actually have a touch over 20,000 members - which includes 1,700 SEQ members

With all that said, believe it or not but I'm in agreeance with you over this. IMO we as a football club (or any other football club for that matter) are in a position to publically push for clubs to make a move one way or another, especially when on such an emotive topic such as relocation or merger that potentially can divide alot of people. If the shoe was on the other foot (as it was just over 10 years ago) how would we react as supporters from these types of comments?

Hawk Dork a wrestling fan? Who would have thought ;)

Jeff is doing what he should of done long ago and that to start flexing his muscles and getting the football world to start showing us the respect that we deserve. Hes the former premier of victoria and should be respected for everything he says because hes got the know how and they should smarten up there act. I want Jeff to start pushing Demetroiu around and if he doesnt start looking after us, Jeff should get rid of him and put someone else, bay be even promote Ian Robsonn to the job.

This was in PSSSST today
Should be fun call

Jeff calling

THE Kangaroos aren’t the only ones ringing members. Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett has taken to calling members to ask how the club is going, if they are happy with their membership and if they would do anything different. Can't imagine him doing something similar when he was Victorian premier . . .

Jeff and I had a good chat the other night... just kidding

Incidentally I think if you had to move, SEQ would be infinately more risky than tassie.

its OK saying the AFL would support but history shows they have the attention span of a gnat. I wouldnt be risking my club on the AFL's goodwill

I think while the Kangaroos are receiving handouts from the AFL via the CBF (which essentially hurts clubs that stay on their feet like Hawthorn) - Kennett has every right to comment. In fact not enough pressure is put on these clubs. It suprises me that clubs like Collingwood and Essendon are not on the front foot with this - but then again they get a rigged draw to their favour in return. Clubs like Hawthorn get nothing in return for their hard work in maintaining a profitable football club.

If James Brayshaw doesn't understand the difference he is kidding himself. This is the typical response of a man trying to keep onside with supporters.

At the end of the day, the Kangaroos need the Gold Coast for survival - pure and simple. We don't need tasmania for survival.

This difference is so basic and fundamental that if Brayshaw doesn't not see it, he should not be a director of North Melbourne. However, he knows the difference and his reaction is typical of an organisation that doesn't have much else to say. It has no other means to respond.

Actually it is embarassing that the only thing Brayshaw can come back with is that 'we play three games you play four' - almost has a sticks and stones feel to it. If it wasn't so childish it would be laughable.
