You're not serious are you? Ruckman take ages to develp. Ages. I'm not talking 2-3 years, I'm talking 5-7 years.
Darcy was nothing for years and years. He was just your average back-up for Wynd, then one day (at about the age of 24-ish) he emerged. Same with Matthew Allan, before his foot problems. He was just hanging about for years, then all of a sudden in '99 he had his super year. He emerged, and he did so after being in the system for about 6 years.

its a bit early in the piece to start passing judgement on a player only just taken in this years draft. Give him a bit of time to mature and grow into his body - as someone said somewhere else on this board - he's a 198cm (?) player with the body of a 177cm player. He needs time to develop.
He hasn't done a huge amount, just been there for the experience, but he looks like he could make it given time.
I'd like to see him go to ground less though, thats probably the most noticeable thing at the moment.
I think he'll end up with a bigger build than Fletch, even if he may never be a tank.

Well, he's not a key position player, at least at this point in his career. Just cause he looks like Fletcher doesn't mean he's cut out to replace him.

His kicking is ordinary..he may look like fletch but he doesnt have fletchs agility or pace.
He may become a solid player for us and im hoping so. But i cant help feel that we payed over the odds for a player whose stocks went up basically because he was a tall player in a draft where talls were at a premium

Way too early to judge . Although it took me 5 minutes to form an opinion on Bolton when he debuted.

While I wasn't overly happy that the Dons took Bradley instead of a fast midfielder I will not be calling this a waste until the guy has played for 3-4 yrs.

It's not fair to Bradley to be making comparisons, but it's fairly rare that i see a guy play his first game and say 'He will be a star'. I said it about Solomon on ANZAC day 1998, i said it about Ramanaskas after a flogging from the Saints in 1999, and i said it about Kane Tenace after Geelong played the Demons last week.
Can you please bag someone who has been given a chance - schit, he probably is still trying to settle in to life on the other side of the country. You people - fair dinkum, why don't you uproot your life and see how you perform in the first few months in your job as an 18 year old.
He goes to ground too much, his kicking is awkward, but he is young, we will mould him, and he is bloody mobile (although not so quick) for his size. Definitely not a FB, but CHB is a real possibility - and if he grows - which he still may - developing into a ruckman isn't out of the question either.

You say not to bag him pevers but you just repeated everything i said. I think he will develop into a solid footballer. My only gripe is that we used the highest pick we have had in 7 years to get him.
I can see his shortcomings - but many footballers need time to develop - sure he isn't ready to play a lot of football now, but we picked him up thinking he will be good in years to come. If he does become the star KPP we want - no midfielder will be worth him. I would assume you wanted us to take Tenace. We picked up 3 midfielders after him, so I don't mind taking a punt on a big guy who could be anything.

You make a fair point. Could we have got him at 13 is what i'm getting at. Still thats all in the past and we cant change it.
But we definately need to draft some "Quality" midfielders in this years draft as the middle is still our teams weakness.

We got Stanton at 13 and he seems a goer. Your boy Dyson is alos on the list - am looking forward to seeing him play at Bendigo sometime this year. After hearing so much, would like to see him play. A long kicking running wingman is just what the doctor ordered for us so here's hoping he will develop. Walsh and Winderlich are still a season away, but Watson, Reynolds and Bullen are all young and should all become integral parts of the team. Reynolds is fast, Watson is the new Misiti ecept bigger and Bullen the new Denham with better ball skills.
Haynes will hopefully be the new Mercuri - and if so he will play onball, and Cupido will be a pinch hitter on the ball as well when he plays more games. So our midfield looks ok - but of course if the kids don't show good signs this year, then going all out for midfielders will prob. be a good idea at the draft.
Also - still am not certain we have a ruckman on the list (excluding Allan). Not sure about Cartledge (will give him time) but the other guys look more suited to KP spots in the team pinch hitting in the ruck.
The Age says today that Kepler is going to play round one due to Port's tall forward line with Fletch and Wellman out. God Help Us.

I think Watson is going to be a star, and Reynolds as well. Winderlich should be good - maybe top class don;t know and I can;t say on the new guys as have only seen Stanton, but I liked what I saw.
