The dreaded kick-in has been the cause of much pain ( and high blood pressure) for Freo supporters over the years. Who can forget the fear, and cold sweats we experienced whenever the prince of pockets gathered the ball after a point!

Thankfully we have improved outta sight in this area in recent years, but I still experience the odd moment of panic.

This leads me to ask, who do you feel most comfortable with taking the kick ins for Freo these days? Maybe a top five ranking?

Mine would be..

1)Mundy
2)Hadrill (when fit)
3)Black
4)Johnson
5)Duffield (when playing)

Black everytime. If soemeone else has to do it though then it'd be Bell or Mundy or even Hayden.

Keep Johnson and Parker as far away from it as possible.

Mundy for mine, is a beautifully long and accurate kick.

We need black streaming forward.

Mundy to McPhalrin to a midfielder with the likes of headland and black running in assistance for the long goal or pin point pass to our forwards.

Hayden to, prefer him to be the go to guy after the mark. Though he would be my second choice.

I love parker...But no more kick in's for him thanks :)

If the club will give me 100 grand, I'll fix the kick out situation overnight.

The full back position and the kick out job is very important, but all of the coaches have spent their time making the midfielders quicker, ruckmen taller and forwards doing smarter tricks. The poor old FB's is a forgotten art, how Con Reagan can watch a game without throttling someone is amazing.

Take it from me, kicking out from full back is darn easy, if you follow some simple rules. Use all the 10 metre square, if in doubt kick long to the negative side, take your time etc.

Stop this chopping and changing, one person kicks out, it's is their job so they spend many ours practicing. Having Black kick out is a waste, yes he is a darn good kick, but he should be up around the back flank ready to run off.

With the new kick in rule I think the "designated kicker" is becoming a thing of the past. Kick ins have become easier as defenders just cannot be manned up that quickly after a point. Teams need to have a few guys in the backline who are confident bringing in it, or else they lose all advantage the quick kick-in gives them on the rebound.

Yep you're probably right, but they have made a simple thing look hard, it really frustrates me.

I wonder how much time is spent practicing the kick in configurations ?.

Mundy by far is the best, all players who kick in stuff up now and again.I don't understand why they have to get so close to the line when kicking it in surely 1 ft isn't going to make that much difference

Probably can be the difference of a good pass and a turnover. Im not to angry when they get called for stepping over. We have Sandi so it should just result in another point.

I'll say it again, kicking out is a skill and pretty easy to execute. You have a 10 metre square to play with, use it.

If you step over the line when kicking in, that is a massive clanger. If you can forgive that then you are setting your targets for the team very low. It is an area we can improve in markedly.

How often do they practice kick out drills ?, as often as rucking setups ?, as often as Cookie flattens the man and I come through and grab the ball drills ?.

Angry is not the word for me, but frustrated is.

It is a mistake that is unnecessary. An unforced arror. It takes the ball out of our control, and give the opposition an opportunity very close to our goals. It is also an area (kick ins) that if we were very good in, would make a sugnificant impact.

Trying to get to a Premiership, attention to detail is important for everyone in the team.
