Did anyone else think that we took far too long with the kick ins today. There were often options presented early, sometimes even twice which were ignored and then we went for the long kick to a contested situation. I thought similar things happened when we were moving the ball along the wing at times as well.

A lot of things looked so different to the team against Collingwood yet again, especially the kickouts. We've never been too good at kick outs, but today, I have no idea what was running through our guys heads! Although there were a few times where our short chipping game really killed us.

I can hardly bear to watch our kick-outs. We get so tucked into the pockets I reckon I saw Carrots in the coffee queue in front of me.

He actually asked me for some sugar!

I think some of this was due to Adelaide's tactics which worked well. They bottled us up all over the ground and forced us to play the short possession game which as the game went on was always going to test us. Losing Thornton and Hartlett early killed us. Thornton was a great match up on Goodwin and Hartlett presented well at CHF. Thornton going off saw Gibbs move to Goodwin which is not the best match up for us. Losing Hartlett saw us having to use Cloke/Kruezer through that part of the ground and it largely did not work. It was always going to be tough playing two short for the whole second half against a team that rotates pretty well.

Still another game for the young guys and we experienced what it is like against a strong bodied experienced outfit. As I said last week this month will really show where we are currently at. We are a big chance over in the West next week.

It boggles me why they give Gibbs kicking in duties. He can't do it.
Scotland is good at kicking in.

That was the second time in three weeks that Gibbs has kicked directly to the opposition resulting in a goal.

They are a little worrying, and we need to work them out quickly.

We allow the opposition too much time to man up and shut out our options.

We have to move the ball quickly, it is as simple as that. When we kick out quickly, we look so much better as we find a man on the 50 metre arc and we generate some run from the backline.

Gibbs probably shouldn't be doing the kick-ins, but he is an option. However, the one person I don't want to see doing them is Jarrad Waite, and he seems to do them all the time. He's a physically imposing player, and should be providing an option for us straight from the kick ins, not doing them himself.

I KNOW!!! WHAT THE HELL!! surely he would be your tall marking option kicking out and plus a little fact that he is probably one of our most inconsistent kickers in the team...... surely stevo and scotland can just tell him to move over son

judd for kick ins?
I was at the match.
and too gibbs credit
it wasnt entirely his fault
the carlton players were hardly leading at all
we would stand still and point to a space of about 5 meters for someone else to lead
we need too provide the kicker alot more options
eg geelong
dont stop providing leads until the ball is kicked

but judd is one of the few players you can rely on to kick the ball accurately in a dangerous position on the ground
he cant receive if the ball is a shocking kick
unless he kicks it too himself:rolleyes:

That'd be good

The problem is they seem to get free rebounding, midfeilders stream in to cherry pick, and the rebound camoes and we a re nowhere to be seen

i cant stand seeing waite take the kick ins, his decision making is suspect. good point made earlier about scotland normally doing ok, havent watched the game again yet but did he take many? definately cannot stay the way it is if we are aiming to be a competitive side
