The band will suffer the curse of Coldplay. Their next album must break ground and be very different from their decent debut and their not so good follow up.
With these commercial rock bands, one wonders the level of artistic control the artists have over their music. Too often, a record will push towards, a sound or a market, the business side will push for their cut, what they think will make the most money, but at a price, many bands who are not original or true to themselves and their musical instincts and their various influences, will burn out and never get the chance to fade away leaving a glorious legacy of records to be played for years to come, not some "product" that will fill bagain bins or clatter up in cardboard boxes in dusty attics.
both albums are great. Brandon Flowers lyrics are quality and they've developed their own sound.
I agree that album 3 will have to have some kind of direction change
It was rubbish. Brandon Flower's vocals ruined it completely. Too much a devotion to Bruce Springsteen and not enough stuff that made the debut so good. Just simply boring and uninteresting.
Also, the Enterlude and Exitlude weren't the first and last tracks on the album...so whats the point of calling them that, for crying out loud???
Apparently they sucked at BDO...can't imagine why...
Thought they were great at the BDO personally, but Ive just started listening to Sam's Town. It's growing on me, but isn't as instantly catchy as Hott Fuss.
Was produced by U2's Flood wasn't it?
Might explain the 'over-production' for some people.
Loved the first cd, initially loved the 2nd, now I am just bored by it. Was a bit dissapointed with BDO, as I had huge expectations of them after seeing them when they came here at the start of 2005 where they were brilliant.
