A good article on some of the class issues in the game. Pretty much agree with all of it.

After putting something like 20 hours + into this, I'm finding it more and more frustrating trying to find a match where team mates go for objectives. Hopefully a few more people on here get into it, so I can play with a decent team for once. A lot has to be blamed on the maps too, at least 4 of them are way way unbalanced. Frozen Dam particularly and the other snow one with the tanker.

I would be playing more but I am as busy as a blowfly in a jar at the moment. Adelaide at this time of year, contrary to it's reputation, is a happening place.

That and...

This game just doesn't grab me by the balls. It's good fun, doesn't lag, looks superb, reasonably balanced but it's also ... not at all addictive.

I think it might be something to do with the lack of weapons, perks and upgrades. It should be quadruple what it is. I don't feel the need to play for two more games to unlock that gun I want to try for example...

Add me as a friend dibikins, The_Hateocracy.

Ive been playing flat out the last few days online mainly as a medic or engineer.

Agreed the story wasn’t as bad as some reviewers were making it out to be. SP campaign had some epic moments but I wish it had been a bit longer. Some of the new weapons were insane but no electricity gun was a bit disappointing.

They need to bring back the medic icons when you get downed. In KZ2 when you got mortally wounded, there would be an icon and distance of nearby medics so you knew whether to wait for revival or not. Now you have NFI where the medic is (assuming no mics.. which is the norm on PSN).

About 6 hours online and I've been revived once... and he got in about a millisecond before I hit the respawn button.

Loving operations though.

Marksman are far too overpowered, and this is coming from a marksman...(The good kind though, not a K/D whore who doesn't care about objectives).

Cloak recharge time needs to be doubled at least to help balance.

Is there co-op multiplayer for this, and is it any good?
Split Screen co-op, no online co-op.

The campaign is pretty damn fun, so I can only imagine going through it with someone else would be just as good.

So the Killzone 3 MP has been opened up to a download format on the PS Store from this week onwards.

For now there's a free trial of the Multiplayer, I believe it's like the other Trial's on PSN (the PS+ trials that is) where you get an hours worth of play before. The download is 4GB.

The MP will go on sale at some point for around $20, and purchasing this way will allow you 24 hours of double XP and 3 unlock points.

It's an interesting concept for games that do somewhat mainly focus on the MP aspect. Although I personally hope it doesn't kill off the single player components of these types of titles as that is still what I favour most in gaming.

Just finished Killzone 3, here's my review. Spoilers of course.

The start of the game was really good, in fact it was a really solid game up until the half way point. The level design was awesome, the story was awesome, the pacing was decent and I liked the variety in levels. That was until about 3/4 through when the game got extremely bland and boring, the pacing was way off and the level design was atrocious. I'm talking about the junkyard levels and the wasteland portion with the giant landship. The stealth mission at the start of the game was fantastic, quite probably my favourite part of the game. I also enjoyed the ice levels with the jetpack, that broke up the gunplay quite nice. After 3/4 of the way through it started to get better and towards the final level with the no gravity gunplay the game picked up and was good again. If only the wasteland parts of the game were cutout, they're not even that important to the story anyway. Oh and that MAWLR? I fought that thing in Resistance 2, except in Resistance 2 there was multiple giant enemies. This is what Killzone 3 lacked on, no boss fights.

There were some frustrating things I encountered, many technical bugs. The sound would cutout when the AI was talking, the sound didn't sync to the mouths in cutscenes but it would be fine in gameplay, sometimes it wouldn't reload when I tried to reload (I have to press reload multiple times before it would register), there was a part where the ground was missing and it looked like when your PC freezes and 100 boxes wave over the screen. A big problem I had was if I was in cover, it wouldn't reload for me. I had to go out of cover for it to reload, not sure if this was an actual design mechanic like the terrible gun lag in Uncharted 3 or if it was a bug but it got me killed several times. I could go on and on about the other bugs I encountered but that's boring so I won't bother.

Why did they change the controls from Killzone 2? I loved the heavy movement in that game, Guerilla completely ballsed it up on this one. You feel lighter than COD and the movement is all wrong, strange decision.

Spoilers:
The ending to the game was terrible, the entire planet seems to be destroyed by this one nuke that landed on Stahls spaceship but he "appears" to be alive at the end of the game? What a load of shit and a huge cop out. Why did they ruin the story by adding this part in. I couldn't believe it was actually the ending, I waited until the credits finally finished after 10 minutes and it just took me back to the main menu. God damn, seriously awful stuff.

I also tried multiplayer, couldn't find a game at all initially which is strange because I played HomeFront recently and found several Aussie players and had quite a few good matches with them. You'd think if a dead on arrival game like HomeFront still had games going then Killzone 3 would. Eventually on the third day I got into a MP game, it was a 5 v 5 warfare match full of South Americans. My ping would've been about 700, I was bouncing around everywhere and unloading clips into the back of guys but they would be standing there and turn around and shoot me dead instantly. I ended up with a KD:R of about 0.50 which I think was decent under the circumstances.

7/10
