King and McClure have WCE Top

Just watching a bit of 360 last night and King and McClure did their final Top 8 with both of them giving the Eagles top position.
McClure even had Fremantle 2nd.
they don't like to talk us up much, particularly Kingy, but they obviously have respect for us. King also made the point that we NEED Naita to secure that position and if he misses 1/2 dozen games or more we will battle to even make top 4.

Didn't see a thread for this so thought some of you guy's would be interested particularly those who don't have Fox.

Didn't King tip Collingwood during one of WC's first or second preseason games? Perhaps in tipping WC he's just going with what's fashionable at the time. Just wait for him to flip-flop and revert back if WC lose a game or two.

McClure made the rather silly comment that we won't care where we are after 4 rounds, we'll start rolling from there....

Hawthorn did it last year, 2-3 after 5 rounds but still topped the ladder at the end of the year.

There is a lot of public support for us this year, it's a little surprising.. but I remember King, Robbo and McLure saying last year that we were "the team to beat" more than halfway through the season, but we got derailed a bit in the second half. It seems popular also to pick a team for the flag that didn't play in the GF the year before.

It does make some sense. Our midfield our biggest weakness has a lot of improvement in it with a couple really exciting youngsters in Shuey, Scooter, Gaff and Masten who are all entering serious breakout years 3-6.
We are also getting Kennedy and Lecras back giving us a top 2 fwdline in the comp.
We have the best rucks by a mile
We have a top 2 or 3 defence

If the midfield becomes one of the best 4 we should be the best team in the comp.

I'm guessing hawks up fwd.
Only ones I think that might be above us in the defence could be swans/crows?

I'm actually becoming more and more bemused by all this.. King, Crawford, Mcclure, Mooney all have us winning the flag.

I had us outside the top 4 this year bro. I can see where all the hype is coming from, but i think other clubs have improved more in the off season then we have. Improved as in 'list management, development' all that stuff.

Collingwood, Sydney and Hawks all above us. I also have Fremantle above us too, but it's touch and go as to what freo side rocks up each week, they seriously have no forward line if pav dies.

Carlton, Adelaide, Brisbane, North Melbourne, Bombers, Geelong and Richmond will all be jostling for spots in the 8

Hawks in the fwd.
Tbh i don't think i have anybody ahead of us in defence but there are a fair few teams who have good defences and i don't think there is any one standout team. Geelong, Swans, Crows are all pretty close to us.
