Do you know, i didn't want to bring this up because i couldn't my finger on what it was, but he doesn't seem to be the same player in previous years.

When the season started, the thing that jumped out at me was his kicking, he has been getting buggar all distance out of his kicking. Can't remember what it was like in previous years to be honest, but it stood out to me this year for some reason, he's only getting 35-40m max.

Still a fantastic player, not questioning that really. He just doesn't seem as 'sharp'. I dunno. I thought he might have been carrying an injury during parts of this season.

He has been out of form for around a month but before that he was destroying the opposition.

It was just a thought. ;)

He's had some blinders this year. But yeah, just my opinion (probably wrong :p) that he doesn't seem as sharp.

I've noticed at times he's been tackled after dallying that split second too long to give of a handball.

But i hope he doesn't retire, he's the heart and soul of the club!

Rememeber his kick last year? Goal we beat NM, point we tie, and his kick barely went twenty, and still got touched by the defender.

True but from memory Kirk had very little room to kick the ball (i think all 36 players were in our forward 50 at that point) as well as the fact that kicking has never been his strong point.

What did he do to Lenny Hayes on Saturday and Hayes has been in Brownlow form, what were you watching runvs

He is still doing a great job tagging but a month or two ago he was doing a great job tagging and he was raking up the possessions aswell.

He is still a great player (probably one of the first players picked every week).

Great player. One of the best of the last decade. A model for all guys who don't get drafted initially but get second chances as rookies.

He would make a great coach and I think you'll nab him as a development coach to work with some of the young guys there.

Latest news in the Melbourne Herald Sun seems to indicate that Kirk won't be retiring, though it doesnt say that exactly, but appears he is still feeling good and I believe he will go on. I certainly hope he does.

'Brett Kirk's still on the run'
See here: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,25894197-19742,00.html

His comment "I feel as good as I ever have and (I've) been bouncing around at training with the sun out. Never has there been a point in my career where I've felt I no longer want to do this." says it all. Unless there is a big turn around in the last few weeks, he will be back next year.

I agree he has not been up to his usual best the last few weeks, but all players go through drops in form. But it's no need to call for retirement, he is still an important player for us. I think also for next year with the new blood coming into the team, what better teacher of the Bloods philiosophy than Captain Kirk. I know he can also do that in an assistant coaches capacity, but I for one prefer him out there in the action.

Go Bloods!

Captain Kirk is a must for next season as he is not only good enough football wise. But also needed out on the field due to his experience as we will be losing a mass of football smarts out on the field next season. He must give the youngsters a heap of fill seeing him out there.

one of the blokes on SEN radio was suggesting Kirk should give it away, Jude Bolton rang in and gave him a spray, I think you can listen to it on the SEN website, I liked it, Go Bloods!

Help us out Bez! Point us in the right direction. :p

I only heard a short of the interview when driving, then the radio guy said "you can catch the whole interview on SEN website" or something similar, he did mention podcast dunno if that helps...:thumbsu:

Big Fat Billy Brainless reckons he should hang up the boots on SEN, then Jude Bolton later rebutted his dumb statement.
That was on Thursday when Billy was on, it was a typical Brownless gaffe, but he is a good bloke, Jude was going to be on anyway and set Billy straight which was accepted by Billy.

you've gotta be crazy to think kirk should give it up at the end of the season...even if he had a drop in form he'd still be valuable for at another year at the very least...and unless he has a significant drop next year (which i doubt) you'd have to think the coaching staff would like to have him around for the year after...

I think Kirke's retirement from playing will be about the same time as Roos is thinking "I'll give it 2 more seasons here and then move on." Instant Malthouse/Buckley Deal and we all walk away happy.
