Yes I too was dissapointed in last night's performance but just a friendly reminded that since the month of MAY ROUND 9 Pies won every single game, and only lost to the three good teams above them on the ladder, and one little form lapse against the reigning premiers.

(These are not excuses, but big positives to take out from this year) Not bad for 2009 considering.

+ The depature of Wakelin and the captain, Burns in '08
+ The additions of Beams, Barham, Rusty, MacAffer all having a great/decent first year
+ last year we dropped games we shouldn't (Freo, Carlton, North etc...), this year we didn't
+ Anthony kicking 50+ goals in his first full season
+ Swan's and Harry's huge improvement

Yes, last nights humiliation was handed to us by a great lesson by a great team, Garry Ablett's performance is something I'm sure a lot of our players will learn what kind of an effort is needed with the business end of the year. I think this will set them on the track for a great preseason.

By the way, I know this sort of post probably happens this time every year but we cannot forget how well we have played the H&A season this year and how we dominated teams where last year we looked really shaky. I know Finals is where it matters but don't forget we have improved a huge amount over last year. If we keep on going....in the words of Shaw "Let's go one further in 2010."

it was definatley boys against men last night...

If we still had some of the harder bodies in Bucks, Liccuria, Burns we may have stood a chance. Few more pre seasons and i rekon we can compete and have some glorious days against sides that once made us feel insignificant.
