u call yourself HAWTHORN SUPPORTER I always thought a supporter was a person that was there for the good and bad that should be with the players aswell i was at the game on sundy and i thought there were a lot of players there that had a bad day I actually thought Zac was alright except for the fresh air kick off the groung he went alright i seen Tuck get caught about 5 times seen Youngy turn it over many times kick passes along the ground buddy kick 5 points but I don't see any one hanging them I have followed the Hawks since Jesus was a boy and I have seen the good and the bad but I never bag a Hawk Player like some of u WA***ERS do I wouldn't even call u a real supporter

What a joke of a thread. The way some supporters carry on on this site, anyone would think we're back to the good old days of the 80's.

Hawthorn is the WORST performed Victorian team over the past 15 years. Even Richmond has finished in the top 4 more often than us. I think that our supporters have been pretty patient.

When you consider all the selling of games, the inept recruiting and the attempt at mergers, Hawthorn supporters are pretty loyal and the membership proves it. They are entitled to voice their opinion when they reckon a player LUCKY enough to wear the mighty brown and gold is not up to it.

I support HAWTHORN, not Hodge, Franklin, Mitchell, Osborne, Dawson or any other individual who happens to be wearing our famous jumper at the time. Supporters care far more for their club than players do. Footballers don't play for the club, they play for their team mates and the dollar. I'll cheer my team when they do well but when they are not up to it I'll let them know about it.

This club accepted mediocrity for too long, especially under Ian Dicker. It's sycophants like the people who start these threads that allow the club to continue to get away with it.

I would like to see you say that to Luke Hodge or Campbell Brown....or even Shane Crawford...

Hawks are my 2nd team (family has always supported Sainters) but I reckon your off the mark with those comments.

Agreed. Campbell Brown plays with the up most pride for the gurnsey he wears! I havent been around as alot of the great members on this forum have, and I havent been given the great oppurtunities to watch the Leigh Matthews, Dermie's, Dipper's, or Langford but for the years I have been a hawk fan I have seen no one play with so much pride, desperation, and love of the brown and gold like Campbell Brown. A loss and a poor performance eats at these players alot worst then it eats at us, just remember that.

To all the posters who are currently in Reverse gear:

There's criticism. The kind that's constructive and may point out a flaw of a missed opportunity or brain fade. Something that a person can use as a building block to improve themselves.

AND...

Then there's criticism. The kind that cuts deep and causes pain. "Worst player ever", "not AFL standard". Something that a person may question "what did I do to deserve this?", "why am I even here?".

One is acceptable and one is NOT. Try workplace bullying laws. Bullys are the weakest level of human existance.

On a side note, here are the words to our clubs song. Read them, sing them, learn from them:

We're a happy team at Hawthorn
We're the Mighty Fighting Hawks

We love our club, and we play to win
Riding the bumps with a grin, at Hawthorn

Come what may, you'll find us striving
Team work is the thing that talks

One for all and all for one
Is the way we play at Hawthorn

We are the mighty fighting Hawks

i think it's great for supporters to have opinions on players and tactics as long as they're constructive rather than destructive - the same message can be delivered with reason and ideas, just like the coaches would.
It also makes for better discussion and keeps the board's standard at a level the HFC deserves.

Well said Roughie :thumbsu:I've been lucky enough witch means I'm over 35 to have seen the above players play with the same passion & pride as Hodge & Brown play with!
