You can see this in perfect form when they let players off for 'insufficient force', because the system wouldn't allow them to get off otherwise.
An accidental head high tackle, under the MRP rules, would be worth at least one week, more if the player has a bad record. It has to be, given the head contact.
Common sense is gone from the umpiring, which should be in the spirit of the game rather than the strict interpretations, as we saw with the Port players ducking into tackles all night on Saturday. Under the rules, that is technically a free kick, but normal followers of the game hate to see them paid.
And common sense is gone from the MRP as well.

I would have challenged on the ''intentional'' part of the charge.
He ran to contest the ball and as soon as he saw the player duck he tried to pull up.
How is it intentional if he tried to pull up and not make contact?

Wasn't intentional. In fact it was negligent (the lowest grade) + low impact (the lowest grade). So if you hit someone in the head, and the MRP decides to look at it, you have to get a one match suspension, 125 points, unless you plead guilty of course.Weak.

The interpretation that the AFL is showing on this is going to back fire one of these days. The whole intent is to protect the head of the player going for the ball. Now with every head high contact rewarded with a free kick players have learned to dive into oncoming traffic and use their head to initiate the contact. Someone is going to get a serious head, neck or even leg injury (if a dude jumps straight into your legs something is going to give).
